Did any one test 8 tb performance and noise level compare to 6 tb or 4 tb

8TB ones has much worse noise. very annoying sound. much noticeable than 6TB ,3TB ones I have

Unless you are reasonably certain you're I/O bound and need the extra throughput, there's very few reasons to get the Red Pro over the standard Red. There's actually an argument to be made that the standard 5400rpm Red drive is more desirable because it should operate at a lower temperature range and live longer as a result.

The synology hdd compatibility mentions it is compatible only with nas shipped after june 2014. i had my ds412+ in 2013, will that still work?

I have a DS1813+ and asked Synology support about it. The issue is the holes/pins moved on new large drives rather than a capacity issue. I haven't had to replace any drives yet, but ordered 3 drive carriers from Synology's store in preparation for when I have to swap a drive again.

Can you install this 8tb nas hard drive in a macbook pro?

depends which model macbook pro. i have a 2013 model en this drive is too thick. either way i would highly recommend installing a SSD instead. the speed advantage is much higher rated than the GB advantage. if you upgrade from a regular HD to an SSD, it will seem like you have a reborn mac. again, i recommend a 128GB SSD over a 4TB HD
