Product Description ------------------- Zay Harding takes the road trip of a lifetime on one of the longest and most spectacular highways in the world. Argentina's Ruta 40, encapsulates the spirit of the country, often called La Mitica Ruta 40 or The Mythical Route 40. Running the entire length of the country, from the border with Bolivia to the Southern tip of Patagonia, and along the edge of the Andes ains, Route 40 is a challenge for even the most experienced driver. Across the Andes and the giant white Salt Flats of the Salinas Grandes to the Humahuaca Valley, of 7 Colours Hill, Zay Harding travels to Tilcara, the oldest city in the country. He explores the pre Columbian ruins of the Pucara, before heading to the capitol, Salta, and the Museum of High Altitude Archeology, to see the best preserved mummies in the world. With the most spectacular scenery in the country, Zay treks to the prehistoric parks of Talampaya and Ischigualasto, with some of the world's best preserved fossils, and then on to Valley of the Moon; it's like being on another planet. Zay then joins thrill seekers deep inside the Andes at the windy National Park of Leoncito. In the ains at the Astronomical Observatory, CASLEO, he stargazes at night. Finally, Zay visits the winemakers of Mendoza Province, and lands beneath the tallest ain in the Western and Southern Hemisphere's, Aconcagua. Along the way: Learn about the dark history of San Carlos de Bariloche, where a notorious war criminal was discovered living. Witness the Patagonian hideout of Butch Cassidy at Cholila, and explore the very hut where he lived for five years with the Sundance Kid. Meet the Lulliallco Children from 500 years ago that seem alive in the cryogenic display at the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology. About the Actor --------------- Zay Harding has a fear of heights but he is not afraid to try new things, and he loves to travel. His daring and outgoing personality lands him the Globe Trekker gigs that no other Zay Harding hosts are willing to do. This is fine for Zay, because he loves exploring new cultures and finds his most challenging journeys to be the most rewarding ones. With the enviable background of growing up on the beaches of Hawaii, Zay is an outdoors man. Treks in a Wild World, another Pilot Productions show, was Zay s first taste of adventure travel. During the series, he hiked Mexico s Copper Canyon with Tarahumara Indian guides on steep, slippery trails (not the best situation for an acrophobe!); whitewater rafted and raced canoes in Mexico s Veracruz; canoed Texas s Rio Grande; climbed Seattle s snow-capped Whitley; lived with the Korowai Tree People in the extremely remote West Papuan region of Irian Jaya; and visited the Dani and Lani tribes in Indonesia s Wamena Valley. This led onto a pilot show called Tribal Challenge, where Zay and a co-host lived with Ethiopia s Surma tribe for ten days. Since being snapped up as a host for Globe Trekker, Zay has motorcycled through Vietnam; explored the hidden underground caves of Laos; gone snow-trekking and bungee jumping in Switzerland; kayaked and skied in Austria; tried biking down ski-slopes, sailing, canoeing, rafting, and riding with cowboys in Canada; and retraced the communist Red Trail in Southeast China. He was crowned Champion of Wrestling in Buea, Cameroon, where he entered a traditional wrestling match and won beating the defending champion of ten years! Zay says that "even in the most boring or lonely places, I will entertain, and that is just part of my nature. So have fun as you watch me."
