This book is for anybody who wants to become confident in drawing faces whether you are a complete novice or a more experienced artist. From basic facial structures to finer details, the book teaches you the fundamentals of portraiture, and also allows you space to practise on the page. Learn how to: ยท Understand anatomy and form ยท Use light and shade ยท Sketch in profile and front on ยท Draw details such as hair and wrinkles ยท Capture likeness and expression The book lays flat to allow you to draw comfortably and has an elastic band to keep your drawings safe. It is also small and compact enough to fit inside your bag and each exercise has an estimated competition time, so it doesn't matter where you are, you'll always be able to find time and inspiration to practice. Review: the rare, actually cool How To Draw book - Most how to draw books are pretty dorky, when you are honest about it. Then there are many "inspirational" ones which tend to be fairly cheesy. This book is legitimately helpful in acquiring line drawing and shading skills, and it is actually quite cool. The studies and suggestions are creative, practical, and help you stretch your skill set. I got it for my kids, and ended up using it myself. It really stands out as something special among what is a lot of junk out there for all of us people with the good intentions of improving their art. Review: Targeted Practice for Serious Learners - I decided to learn to draw this year as an adult. I wanted a book to accelerate my learning. This offers very focused practice and teaches you why the shapes are the way they are. It's for serious learners which is what I was looking for. I only wish there was a book just like this for figure drawing. I love the format and idea this is your sketchpad, but I did not take the authors advice on drawing in the book and using it as my sketchpad. That feels too finite and stressful and I can't go back through the book later. I have my own sketchpad I only use for this book. The great thing about drawing in the book is it forces you to draw once and move on. Don't get stuck worrying if things are perfect. I've already fond doing this my drawings have already improved. Draw once, don't stress and move on.

Best book about drawing faces
I teach Art and drawing faces is one of the most difficult subjects in my class. This book is great. Itโs set up like a sketchbook, so you can practice as you go along. It covers everything about drawing the face. I donโt like books that treat the subject like architecture, with a bunch of boxes and measurements and stuff that doesnโt help the young student. I highly recommend this book.

Takes You Where You're Aiming
I did this book over the course of a couple months, and while I didn't immediately jump into drawing faces the lessons I learned from this book helped phenomenally with my ability to draw faces down the line. I highly recommend this book to artists that maybe have spent a while focusing on other aspects of their art studies without focusing yet on faces. It talks somewhat about fundamentals of line and shape, but is best for really examining the parts of the face and learning their relativity to each other. :)

Bought the book new but itโs falling apart.
I just pulled the book from the mailer envelope and saw the condition of the book. Beware buyers. Buying new doesnโt mean youโre getting a new book apparently. Iโm quite disappointed at this quality. And will be seeking a replacement. As for the content, from my peak into the book it looks as if itโs going to very helpful in my art journey. It looks beginner friendly.

This is the one to get!
This book is excellent! It was one of the tools that my daughter used to teach herself, and she's an exceptional artist.

A fantastic guide
Iโve been working my way through the book over the last month. Itโs given me a clear framework which I can use when drawing faces. All the exercises build on each other as the book goes on and I feel so much more confident doing portraits now. I re-visited some of the sketches I did when I started the book and was so pleased to see my progress over the month!
