He does not like to sleep without it.
Shortly after my SO was prescribed an ASV machine for sleep apnea and watching him try to rig up various supports for the hose, I realized he would need something like this hose holder. He was skeptical at first but after the first night of not having the hose get under his face, wrapped around the pillow, etc, he was convinced and considers it an essential part of his sleep routine for over a year now. It works with our 14 inch mattress, our 17 inch mattress, hotel mattresses and we use a thin piece of board to hold it still under our camping air mattress. As others have said, it works best at the head of the bed between the mattress and a wall or headboard. The stand itself is made of fairly strong metal tubes that are flanged on one end to fit together. The tubes originally had a piece of elastic cord running through them to keep tension when assembled and to allow you to disassemble and fold it up (kind of like a tent pole). But the elastic wore out and broke after about 6 months and we never bothered to replace it as the stand is still in great shape and stays together without it. I tied a knot in a hair tie to replace the loop at the top that holds the hose and that is working fine on its own. I highly recommend this stand to anyone who uses CPAP, BiPAP, ASV, or whatever else has a hose that gets in the way while sleeping.

It really works--if you're willing to find your own "sweet spot"
My first impression when I opened the package was along the lines of "what a piece of junk!" I'd been skeptical of buying this, because my husband had tried one himself a few years ago and threw it out after a few days of misery. But I'd been struggling for nearly 6 years to sleep with a CPAP without getting tangled up in the hose, and was desperate. I first set up the hose holder as shown in the website picture, and it wouldn't stay in place--each time I moved, the base would wiggle around and end up falling to the floor. So I started experimenting with positioning it, and found that if I placed it at the head of the bed, behind my pillow (with the base between the mattress and box springs, of course), and the top angled off towards my CPAP machine, it works great. In addition to previously getting tangled up in the hose--as I'm an extremely restless sleeper who prefers sleeping on my stomach--a major problem was that as I would change position, the hose would rub over the edges of the nightstand and/or headboard, making a noise that sounded somewhat like running a stick along a picket fence: a loud TICKTICKTICKTICK that would yank me straight out of the deepest sleep. I'm thrilled to say that the hose is now elevated enough that in the 2 months I've been using it, I haven't heard that sound once! I'll admit it does look somewhat like an instrument of torture, and I wish it was a bit more substantial, as I'm wondering how long the elastic will hold up. But in the meantime, I'm exceedingly happy to be getting the best sleep I've had in at least a decade. [P.S. I know I'm not supposed to mention other products here, but I do want to note that at the same time I bought this hose holder, I also purchased a new CPAP pillow. I'm convinced it's the combination of these two items that's worked wonders for me. I'll be happy to tell you which pillow I bought if you're interested--just add a comment and I'll respond.]

Love this thing
I got a cpap machine and kept waking up and having to move the hose around. I felt like I needed something to hold it out the way and searched on Amazon. This one got really good reviews. It's really helped so much. I put it at the top of my bed behind my headboard. Really use to set-up. Takes a little playing around with to figure out how much hose to pull through but it's so helpful. I move around in my sleep and never had an issue turning over or anything. The mask I use has a swivel piece so that probably helps too. I did put it between my mattress and headboard at first but it kept banging against my metal headboard every time I moved. Once I moved it, everything was great. The loop holds the hose really well but still allows some pull so the mask doesn't pull on your face too much. Definitely recommend trying it!

Worth the money!
This is a pretty good item for the money. It works very well and keeps the CP hose up and out of the way. It could be a little more sturdy though. Very light weight metal. Nice and quiet when my hubby rolls over and adjusts his sleeping position. Easy to use and comes with a travel bag. Will consider buying another one for our RV.

A simple way to reduce the stress of sleeping with a CPAP hose
This is a life-changer when you're struggling to get used to sleeping with a CPAP hose. I got tired of it wrapping around my neck or waist during the night, so I turned to Amazon to find relief. This is it. It's a simply clever design, sections of metal tubing held together with elastic cord that is tied on the base that anchors the unit between your mattress and box springs or base. The weight of the mattress holds it in place...most of the time. Because it is designed in sections, the whole thing can be folded and stored in the included cloth bag for travel. I took it along both on a plane and car. The only disadvantages are: 1. It does tend to work its way out a bit sometimes, so when you make your bed, push it back in. 2. I replaced my old bed with an adjustable one, and could no longer use the holder at the head of my bed, above the pillows. So I placed it on the side next to a pillow, which means my comforter and top sheet don't look as nice when the bed is made. 3. Eventually, the elastic cord loses its stretch, so it doesn't keep your mask above your bed. Mine ended up hanging next to the bed. Replacement parts aren't available. And, my kitten just chewed the stretched cord in two, then chewed up the plastic that holds the coiled loop together. Again, no replacement parts. I got more than six good years of use out of this very simple device, and while I'm very sad it has to be retired and don't know what to do with the still functioning parts, I feel I got my money's worth. Thus, I came back to Amazon to find a replacement. If you're looking for a low-tech, space-saving way to cut down on some of the frustration of using your necessary CPAP machine, I recommend this solution.

Great idea, worked while it lasted - needs more engineering.
Like with most people, I agree that this little contraption was a life changer. It was weird and difficult enough just getting used to sleeping with my new partner, my Resmed cpap, and this little piece of ingenuity made it that much more bearable. It did it's job. It kept my cpap hose up and away from me and it was very forgiving in the times that I would want to turn over or move in what limited area I had to move in being confined to the hose that was now basically keeping me able to breathe while I sleep. If you've ever put up a camping tent, the sectioned pieces of poles for this holder work basically the same way allowing you to take it apart, fold it up and put away each morning. Why I only gave it 3 stars is because the little elastic loop at the end which the hose goes through when it hangs down is poorly designed/created. It would become stretched out over time, becoming weak and frail to the point it just snapped - see picture. This makes the whole unit useless now and I will need to buy another one. I bought this one about 9 months ago so it didn't last quite a year..its a great concept and I loved it as it worked but I believe a bit more engineering on the looping mechanism that secures and holds the hose is needed. Perhaps if you kept the holder up each morning and never removed the hose then perhaps the loop wouldn't become stretched out and weak but you need to clean the hose regularly and if you don't mind your bed looking like a hospital bed in a hospital room with the hose attached and dangling during the day then perhaps the loop would last longer. I suppose if you plan on never removing the hose and keeping the holder up and together and never dismantling it then I guess it would last longer. But in reality, you do need to remove the hose especially to regularly clean it.

You need this.
Y'all. Holy moly. The first night I used it was the first REAL full night of restful uninterrupted sleep I have had in probably 10 years. I should have listened to the review on another CPAP accessory that said the best product he bought to help with CPAP effectiveness was THIS HOSE HOLDER THINGY. 3 months in of using a CPAP and I had yet to totally sleep through the night. This hose holder was the exact thing I needed to make it more comfortable. + It takes the slight pressure that the weight of the hose has on my mask. I hated that feeling of the mask pushing down my upper lip (my mask is nasal only.) + The swivel of the contraption is silent and efficient + It breaks down into a nice flat package that fits right in the pocket of the travel case that came with my CPAP + It gives as close a feeling as possible to not having anything at all weighing down on my face. Absolutely no negatives. Great invention, great price, buy it.

Must Have! Giving me that great night's sleep I desperately needed!
I am a new CPAP user. I had my CPAP for a couple of weeks and was having problems with the hose being wrapped around my neck from rolling over while asleep, and the mask being pulled when the hose connection would fall off the bed (since it is heavy). I still wasn't getting a great night's sleep. I decided I needed something to keep the hose above me while sleeping, but I'm such a new user that I didn't realize this was an item that existed. I was very glad to find this and I decided to try it out to see if it could help me. After using this item for a week, I believe this is something that should be offered mandatory for all CPAP users. I am able to roll around in bed without the hose wrapping around my neck, and I don't feel the mask being pulled off anymore. In fact, my air leakage has drastically reduced since using this holder. When I opened the package, I did think it seemed low quality. The metal pipes are thin and are threaded through with an elastic string to connect them--similar to collapsible tent poles. When I put it together, the top swung back and forth and did not seem sturdy. It turns out, having the ability to move with you while you are sleeping is exactly what I needed to keep the hose from wrapping around me. I put the holder against my headboard so it hangs directly above my head and it has not slipped out from under the mattress at all. It comes with a little drawstring bag to take with you when you travel. I am very happy with this purchase and I wish someone had told me this existed right when I got my CPAP. In my opinion it is an essential item! I'm sleeping well and feeling great thanks to this CPAP hose holder.

Really useful for a better night's sleep
I have been using this hose holder for about 9 months now and it still works great. I had trouble getting used to using a CPAP machine and disliked how the hose got in my way as I slept. If the holder ever broke, I would immediately get another one. This hose holder keeps the tube up and away from me, which is great because I seem to move a lot while I sleep. I am usually a side sleeper and this holder moves the hose out of the way so that it doesn't bother me. I also find that since I don't touch the hose, my mask shifts less while I sleep.

Solid tool for CPAP users
Worked better than expected. Just note that if you can't slide the base under/between mattresses, you might need something reasonably heavy to place on it to keep the structure from falling over.

It does not get inthe way
When I installed it at first, I thought oh boy, this will get in my way and I will find it annoying. Having used it for 3 months now, not once has it been a problem and it does NOT get in the way. It can fold down to almost nothing for travel. The only thing I find is that, when placed in between the mattress and box spring, because there is no rubber or "grabby" material, it is very easy to slide around. Makes you think that it could fall out easily but has not yet and I move a lot when I sleep. Recommended.

Game Changer!
This has been so helpful for me. I breathe easier & sleep better since using this. The cord attached to my CPAP is no longer in my way. Itโs sturdy enough for my use; it has never left the head of my bed & I use it every night. I thoroughly recommend this product if you are using a CPAP machine.
