An unclassifiable book by perhaps the greatest living poet: a meditation on life, history, literature, music, art, memory, love. Profoundly beautiful. I couldn't wait to go to bed to read it. Buy it.

It is a wonderful book with many deep insights and it serves as an introduction to many creative writers and musicians. Zagajewski has met and read many interesting characters along the way and the book shows how his thinking and his poetry has been molded through his experiences. And of course, there is always Lwow lurking in the background
