They absolutely ARE waterproof!
Anyone claiming they're "not waterproof" is likely using them wrong! The material itself is impermeable to liquid/moisture, the leaks people are likely experiencing are either due to improper fit (they NEED to be very snug around the leg cuffs and the waistband needs to extend well above the top of the diaper! The elastics are covered in a soft (but absorbent) material. So if they're directly exposed to the wet core of the diaper, they will "wick" the material out of the diaper and onto the wearers clothing or bedding, making it look like they just leaked everywhere, but in reality, the wet clothing sucked the liquid right out of the diaper! To prevent this, first off, make sure the leg cuffs of the diaper are pulled all the way up into the crotch area, and they're not dropping loosely when the wearer bends their legs or moves. Also make sure the diapers leg gathers aren't turned inward, run your fingers around the entire leg gather on both legs to make sure they lay flat and snug, high up into the crotch and around the leg. Next make sure the diaper itself is the correct size! This is REALLY important, if the wearer has a huge/oversized diaper, it will always fit loosely. And when you tuck that loose diaper inside of a pair of waterproof pants, the liquid will pour right out the leg gathers! The last thing is to make sure you're using the right diaper in the first place! If you're putting these pants over ANY product made by Depend, then you're going to have bad results. These pants aren't designed to sudden make BAD diapers work better! They're designed to help make GOOD diapers fit better by holding them up/in place better, and they're meant to help prevent the rare/infrequent leak that may happen when a "good" diaper is oversaturated or has become loose and is no longer fitting properly (like at night when the wearer tosses and turns and the diaper gets tugged/slid around or out of place. If the diaper all by itself (with no cover) leaks more frequently than not, then these pants are NOT the right option for you. You absolutely need to switch to a better diaper that performs better (which is NOT something you can buy from any grocery or drug store!, You need to order them online) Once you have the right diaper that can be worn by itself WITHOUT leaking most of the time, THAT'S when you should be considering using these pants over them. Putting these pants on over a Depend or drug store brand brief, is like putting a racing stripe sticker on a Ford Fiesta and expecting it to beat a Corvette on a race track! Start with a GOOD, high performance diaper.. them (and ONLY then) consider adding a pair of waterproof pants to help prevent the rare/occasional leak. Good luck!

Awesome
Love these. I've ordered many pairs over the years and have always been happy with the quality and comfort. I get them for myself. I don't have a medical need for them, but I often wear plastic pants instead of regular underwear, mostly because I love how they feel, but I also enjoy the security they provide. I don’t really wet my pants but sometimes I leak a little bit. With plastic pants on, it’s a nonissue. No one knows, they dry quickly, and wet plastic pants feel so much nicer than damp underwear. I’ve tried lots of plastic pants and will tell you that not all of them can be comfortably worn on their own, but these pants can easily be worn all day long and they feel awesome. They're well-fitted, they have wide comfortable elastics, and they’re made from a unique material that's very different from the PVC often used to make plastic pants. This waterproof material is soft and smooth and very breathable. But I will say they're alarmingly noisy when you take them out of the package for the first time. If you enjoy the sound typically associated with plastic pants, then you’ll probably love these. But if you're concerned with noise, I will say they get quieter the more you wear them, and it's not particularly obvious and a public setting. I've worn them out a ton and don't even give it a second thought. Besides, most people wouldn’t notice or care if I have plastic pants on. They're not the prettiest plastic pants I've ever owned, however they are offered in three colours for some variety. They feel similar but look very different. White (my favourite) with its frosty, waxy appearance, resembles typical plastic pants. Unfortunately, it's also prone to staining and darkening with age. Beige looks more like fabric and is the quietest of the bunch (but not by much) and is more resilient to staining and aging. Black is a fun material that's super glossy on the inside but looks sleek and mysterious on the outside, like a slightly shiny nylon. It doesn't seem to stain or age at all. It's probably the loudest but again, not by much. If you follow the size chart carefully, you can't go wrong. They're sized perfectly with room left over for padding. The legs are properly positioned and snug, but not tight. The elastics are thick and very comfortable. The waist is generous but not too high and perfect for daytime use. They wouldn't normally show with any of the pants I usually wear unless I deliberately pull them up higher. Thanks to the interior coating, these are fairly easy to clean. I normally wipe them down well after use and they come pretty clean. The elastics aren't as easy to clean by hand, so I do machine launder them on occasion, which they tolerate well. But the gentler you treat them, the longer they will last. If you’re looking to try plastic pants for the first time, I probably can't say enough good things about these -- they're my absolute favourite. They're a fun and practical alternative to conventional underwear. Whether you want to wear them on their own or with a diaper, these are absolutely worth a try. They're a little on the pricey side but worth it in my opinion.

Good Product. Horrible Customer Experience / Uncaring Leadership
Explanation: I’d written a couple of emails to the customer service email address to explain my experiences, both bad and good. I want to share my experience so that other customers can make an informed decision. I didn’t keep a copy of my first email, which was a few months before, so I wrote again.. that email is pasted below: Message two: Hello, I’d written before about the two waterproof incontinence pants I’d previously purchased for my 93 year old neighbor. One pair fit fine, but the stitching on the side came apart and steadily got so bad they were not worth wearing. The other pair didn’t have a good fit. One leg fit snug, but the other leg was too tight and caused too much discomfort for her to wear. I didn’t hear back from you so I hesitantly ordered two more pairs. Well, the new pairs fit better, have a totally different waist band that seems to be more comfortable and the leg openings are also fitting correctly without any discomfort to her. While I doubt there’s anything you can do about the old pairs, I wanted to let you know that the new pairs / style are much better and I felt you should know. Sincerely, Thomas C. Message three: I’ve written twice before to your email address: customercare@kleinerts.com, but thought I’d try one more time here. My understanding was that you were a family owned business and communication was important to you. While I first wrote to you to alert you to some quality issues on previous pairs we’d purchased, the next time was to praise you for improving your product’s quality so much. Never hearing anything from tells me you’re really not interested in feedback of any kind and I don’t need to support a family owned business that doesn’t care or even make an effort to respond. I’ll add my review to my previous Amazon order including the communications (or lack thereof). Sincerely, Thomas C. Sizing
Basically a nice item. Well made with soft materials. My only problem was the leg openings were too small. The up size would have been much TOO big elsewhere

Works very well at stopping leaks.
These cover pants are working great for me. :) The fit around my thighs and waist is snug but not uncomfortable and definitely doesn’t leak! For the record I’m 6’4”, 204 pounds with a waist size of 44” and a thigh size of 25” making the XL size a perfect fit especially with pull-up diapers. Right out of the package there is no discernible smell with just a hint of a “new car” scent. My only concern is that in a relatively quiet room one can definitely hear that the pants are a bit noisy but still soooooo worth it for stopping my clothes from getting noticeably wet.

Spend your money on waterproof mattress pads and incontinence mattress pad covers instead
Bought these for an elderly woman with dementia to wear over Depends when she goes to bed at night. Useless. The first "accident" resulted in a mess worse than when she just had on Depends only. The next accident was no better. Two strikes and I was done with these totally useless pants because it took more effort to clean up the bed and her than if she only wore Depends. And....yes....the Kleinerts were snug on her thighs. At least with two waterproof mattress pads that fit snug around entire mattress, then a fitted sheet, and then three washable pads piled on top of one another (the kind that you change easily because they just have flaps to tuck in and go on top of the fitted sheet so you do not have to change entire bed) -- the next accident we just had to take off the 3 washable pads (the biggest size we saw on Amazon).

Ordered three pairs, two ripped at the seams
FURTHER UPDATE 07/11/17: After generously receiving double stitched panties from Kleinert's, I can happily say that after several months' of use, they did not tear and are still in as good shape as the day they were received. Upping to 5 stars. Unfortunately, in recent months, my Mom's condition has deteriorated and we have gone over to just using disposable panties/diapers which we find easier to change without the Kleinert's panties on. But still highly recommend the improved product. UPDATED REVIEW 10/13/16: I have upped my review by one star, because after my feedback, I was promptly contacted by the Company's Owner who was not only distressed that the panties had ripped and offered to send a free replacement pair, but also stated she has instructed the factory to begin double seaming them, to help prevent this in the future. In this day and age when so many businesses just don't give a damn anymore, I think that is exceptionally impressive on her part and worth at least one star. When we get the new double seamed replacement pair, I will update my review again. Meantime, thanks Kleinert's, for caring! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've ordered 3 pairs of these pants for an elderly parent with incontinence. First pair, I went with the company's recommendation to choose the inseam size over the waist size - big mistake, the pants were tight and promptly split along the side seam.. So I put in another order for the next larger size, all seemed to be well, so I placed a 3rd order for an additional pair. Well, the second correctly sized pair also just split at the side seam, despite being roomy enough. And there is no material left to attempt to restitch the rip because the seam size was tiny to begin with and the material is completely tattered now, like a fringe. Needless to say, I am VERY disappointed, especially for such expensive underwear, and will look for another brand to buy to replace these. I am giving it two stars, instead of one, only because they gave great peace of mind to my parent that they would no longer have to worry about wetting the bed. I am giving

EFFECTIVE & COMFORTABLE
This product is not cheap in price or quality. The pants fit well, they do not bind, roll or cut into my flesh. They are well made, silent and do not leak. To clean them, I put them in a mesh hosiery laundry bag and into a washing machine using cold water. I hang them to air-dry. I have also washed them by hand using dish-washing liquid and wrap in a towel to remove extra water then them hang them up to air-dry. I treat them gently and kindly. None of themhave torn. I really like them and have ordered more. I definite recommend this product. This product is MADE IN AMERICA.

They fit and provide confidence
I bought these for an elderly parent who is totally incontinent. She is much more comfortable when wearing these overpants and now wants to sleep in them. At least the peace of mind they provide her with during the night allows her to sleep for more than a couple hours at a time. I'm ordering more.
