Great product, very easy & customizable, not so great to ship...
I ordered a Rubbermaid Configurations 4-8 foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit, as well as sliding wire basket to go along with it. First, the few negatives...at no fault of Amazon.com's. The basket arrived damaged, at a point that was very noticeable and not easy to fix or hide (the plastic caps that are built-in to the ends of the grab bar to slide the drawer out, one was cracked...or more crunched beyond belief). These pieces aren't put in by the consumer, they are already glued (I'm assuming) into the ends of the bar, and it sticks out like a sore thumb, not to mention can CAUSE a sore thumb...when you cut yourself from grabbing the bar near the cracked plastic. So, I returned the basket and asked that another one be shipped to me. The Amazon return process is pretty easy, I opted for the Amazon-paid USPS shipper, which I printed immediately. The return seemed to get "lost", and unfortunately Amazon doesn't pay for tracking on those returns (A tip that I got from the post office: in the future, pay the extra $1.50 or so for the USPS track and confirm service, added onto what's pre-paid by Amazon, to avoid this. Even though Amazon.com pays shipping, you can add this service out of your pocket without re-paying for the entire shipping charge.). After getting the "you will be charged in a few days" e-mail and going back and forth, Amazon assured me they would't charge me, then miraculously a few weeks later, they got the return package. So that was my sliding drawer. The replacement came and wasn't damaged. However, the 4-8 foot deluxe closet kit also had damaged clothes rod caps. Fortunately, these caps you put in yourself, so I could pick and choose the less damaged ones (most if not all were damaged to some extent, but most damage was easily hidden in the clothes rods, as it was the inner part of the caps that was crushed). After getting around this small inconvenience, I got the hand rails mounted, the rails hung, and the shelves in place. So that's the bad part...and for that reason, I would recommend what I've since found out...Lowe's sells the white version of these, and just calls them something different, but still Rubbermaid (I believe Rubbermaid Home or Rubbermaid Closet Home Essentials, or something like that). So you can probably get it at your local Lowe's at prices that are about the same, and not have to worry about shipping damage. Lowes.com, however, doesn't sell these...so I imagine only certain markets have them in stores. Now for the good part. I did some research on Consumer Reports on custom closet systems before purchasing them. I had Closetmaid in my mind at the time, until I saw the ratings...and Rubbermaid won for several reasons, including quality of the product, ease of installation/customization, etc. It really was very easy to install, and I used this particular kit in my laundry room...and well, since I installed it, I've rearranged the shelves about 5 or 6 times. Each time it only took me about 5 minutes to completely rearrange things, and half that time was spent taking everything off of the shelves. You just slide the shelf locks to the unlocked position, pull the shelves off, move the brackets, put the shelves back up, and re-lock them in place with the sliding locks. It's that simple. Being that easy, you might thing they don't hold in place very well, but the simple shelf locks do the trick--they aren't going anywhere once you slide the locking mechanism. Quality seems very good too (assuming it arrives undamaged). I was somewhat leary with the overlapping shelves idea...to combine two smaller shelves into one bigger shelf, but the way Rubbermaid does it is pretty clever...they have A and B shelves, clearly labeled. One is slightly longer than the other, but not so much that it's noticeable or looks funny. They overlap when needed perfectly, without looking odd, being out of balance, or anything like that. Overall I would highly recommend this product, but you may want to try Lowe's for it, based on potential shipping damage which occurred with both of my shipments. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Amazon.com, and have NEVER had an unresolved issue with them. However, this just might be a product that is better purchased in the store, unless you have the time and patience for a potential return/exchange. It didn't cost me a cent, other than a few extra days delay, and some follow-up finding the return package. However, although I've placed about 7 or 8 Amazon.com orders since then...this is one product I probably won't purchase via ANY mail-order method again. ;)

Extremely Flexible Closet Organizer Kit
**03/07/22 UPDATE** I installed a second one of these in a larger closet. Same situation, tore out old basic shelf, did all drywall repairs and repainted closet walls and ceilings. Like the first closet I did, the hang bar was done at 80" vs the 86.5" that is recommended. This worked out perfectly, again. This time, I did not use any of the included anchors -- for places that required them, I exclusively used toggle bolts I picked up from Lowes. Yes, it cost a few bucks more but the peace of mind is worth it. The hang bar and uprights are not going anywhere! My wife has already hinted I will be installing these in other closets if that is any indication as to our satisfaction with this organizer. The single "ding" against is that the included anchors are, well, crappy. No other way to describe it. Like I said in my original review, the bang:buck ratio for this organizer is super high. Very much recommended. ** I completed the installation of this closet organizer kit this weekend, so wanted to share my experiences while it is still fresh in my mind. Other reviews have gone over all of the features of the kit, so I won't bore you with that. However, I did want to provide some handy tips for installation --> - Prior to beginning the installation, I tore out the old shelf + cheap-o anchors, did all of the drywall repair and finally painted the closet walls and trim. This is obviously not necessary and takes extra time, effort and money but it really made the end result look so much better. Very much recommend going this route if you are tearing out an existing system. - As several other reviewers have suggested, buy some toggles or heavier-duty anchors. The included ones are not horrible, but the chance of hitting studs for the uprights to achieve an optimal layout is pretty low and I would prefer to spend an extra $20 on hardware and know the system is solid. - Read the instructions + watch the brief install video several times and plan your layout prior to beginning installation. There are some great tips (like using the rail cover as a spacer for the uprights) included that will make things much easier. - Both the video and paper instructions tell you to mount the hang rail at 86.5" -- this is in no way, shape or form a requirement. I mounted mine at 80" and it worked out perfectly. The trim in the closet is 6" high, and the upright extensions end up about 2" above it. Perfect. - Take your time. Use a level. Use a stud finder. Measure again before drilling. Yes, simple/silly tips, but you might as well aim to get your installation (at least of the uprights) done right the first time. The shelving/accessory side of things is super flexible post-install, but if you go wild-wild-west with your uprights install, you're likely going to have a bad day. - Overall, the installation was not crazy difficult. Anyone with average+ abilities (and the right tools) can totally knock this out alone and get a good result. If you aren't comfortable with the install, find a handy pal and make an afternoon/learning experience out of it. I can safely say that no advanced skills are required to get a great end result. So, big question here.. would I buy the kit again? Yes, for sure. In fact, my wife has already asked I begin planning the layout for a closet in another room. The single thing I would do differently is to not use any of the included anchors at all and use 100% toggles. The included screws (for sinking the rail into studs) are good though! In closing, let's be clear -- this is not a high-end solution. It is, however, a solution with incredible bang:buck that offers some great flexibility given what is included in this kit and the number of accessories out there. The end result (especially after painting the closet to match the room) looks outstanding and all-in was south of $200 including replacing my old 20-year-old stud finder and a new gallon of paint. Have questions? Feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Good product, easy to install, happy with outcome
Overall, I'm very pleased with the Rubbermaid "Deluxe" closet kit. It's not perfect, but still give 5 stars due to the value, flexible configurations, and relatively easy installation. We have a 5 foot wide reach-in closet in our guest bedroom, so we decided to go the Rubbermade route versus exploring the Elfa or another custom made product. Beyond a couple small annoyances, I'm pleased with the result. But, since I just installed the closet this week, I can't speak to anything beyond the initial setup and first few days of use. Before going on, I want to point out that I'm happy I spent the extra $17 on the Deluxe vs. Classic option. Based on our final configuration, we ended up using more of the 26.25 inch shelves than originally thought. And, if you have a closet similar to our size, Rubbermaid's 3-6 foot set could work, but we wanted the extra hanging space available with this set. Installation: From start to finish (not including prep time beforehand or extra time afterwards "re-configuring" the final layout), the installation took me nearly 2.5 hours. But of course, that all depends on your experience doing these types of projects and the amount of help you have. I completed this project alone, and I'm by no means a professional craftsman. Now that I think about it, this may have been the first assembly project I've completed that required the use of a drill. Suffice to say, it's fairly easy to complete, and while the instructions could always be better, they were easy to understand with minimal headscratching. Some random installation tips: -It'd be nice if Amazon posted the instruction guide for these types of products. But beyond what's included, you will need a drill and a level. [...] -You can complete this yourself, but you may want some help at the beginning when leveling the top frame. Without it, you'll end up like me on the 3rd step of your ladder juggling a 48 inch metal frame, a 2 foot level, and pen to mark hole locations. An extra pair of hands makes that key step a lot easier. -As instructed, you'll want to drill into the studs wherever possible. When drillling a location not along a stud, the instructions indicate drilling a 3/8 inch hole to allow for the use of wall anchors (which are provided). Some other reviews mention this isn't a common bit size found in most basic drill packs. But, I was able to make it work by using a 1/4 inch bit instead, and just going around the edges to enlarge the opening. I'm sure I'll catch a lecture from another reviewer, but it saved me an unecessary trip to Home Depot (hopefully). -Step 1D in the instructions indicate fastening the first two screws until after the next step of sliding the second hang rail behind the first. But if your closet is less than 6 feet, the second rail won't fit. So, only fasten the first screw before going forward. No biggie, but you can thank me later on for saving you the extra 2 minutes. After attaching the top hang rail, and securing the upright rods, the closet is basically done. You just have to play around with the brackets and shelves depending on your storage needs. I changed my mind at least a few times, and it was easy to go back and tweak the setup. Overall, here are some pros and cons: Pros: -Good value for price -Easy installation, able to do by yourself -Clear instructions -Sturdy materials -Separate hanging rod allow you to move clothes from one end to another* -Easy to configure Cons: -Upright rails do not attach at top, and therefore, will sway and cause audible clanging against the horizontal hang rail -*When telescoping rods together, there's annoying edge that "catches" your hanging when shifting clothes -Not a very "elegant" process of overlapping the shelves, but it works

Awesome closet configuration system
I have a walk-in closet and heard a crash only to find my previous rack had collapsed under the weight of clothes and storage containers. I was super bummed but man, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I bought 3 of the 4-8ft white systems for the 3 walls of my walk-in closet for $96 each...what a steal! I installed all 3 in one day with the crucial help of my teen son. These things are incredible and seem super sturdy. Key takeaways/learnings: - Follow the instructions carefully. - Critical that you install the hanging rail into every stud you can find. Get a stud finder. Solid installation of the hanging rails is crucial. Be careful screwing into studs with a drill. As difficult as it was, I screwed in by hand to avoid stripping the screw head. However, I’m strong and have really good, torquey screwdrivers that allowed me to do that. Get a helper to install the hanging rails if you’re putting in more than 1. - USE THE SPACERS that come with it. I measured the distance between the uprights at first, but it’s so much easier to just put the spacers in place for perfect distance. - Think carefully about where you want the uprights if you know they will be unevenly spaced on one side. Two of my installations were like that and you want the uneven side to be the less accessible side. - Get your own, higher quality drywall anchors. I got the kind that screw into the wall and they’re WAY better than the ones that came with the system. Screw in by hand...DONT use a drill. - Buy extra wood screws in case you strip some going into studs. Likely to happen. - This is key. Don’t agonize about trying to envision the right configuration. Just pick one and start loading up your stuff and then ideas will flow as to how things should change. My wife and I reconfigured probably 5 times with our stuff in it til we found the perfect setup. Reconfiguring is super easy! This is a bit of a project, but SO worth it. I spent $300 for 3 systems and completely decked out my walk-in closet where some people spend thousands for something “fancier” and not even close to as functional. My wife was amazed at how easy we could reconfigure and the amount of extra space was unbelievable. This was one of the best finds I’ve had in a long time.

Lots of Bang for the Buck
I bought a few Rubbermaid closet shelving systems. The pros: 1. Low cost - $100 to $150 for enough shelves and rods for a 6 to 8 foot closet is a great deal 2. Fairly easy installation - You locate the studs in the wall and screw one (or two) pieces of metal into the studs. Everything else drops off of the main hang bar and only requires one screw or anchor. Make sure to use a level to make sure everything is straight. 3. Customization - you can design the closet many different ways and change the layout very easily. This is great for kids - you can raise the clothing rod as they get bigger - very cool The cons: 1. It's not as stable as the Closetmaid shelving systems. You're not putting a lot of screws or anchors into the wall - I don't plan on putting anything too heavy on the shelves 2. Even if you locate all the studs, you probably won't be able to screw into all of them because the main metal support has holes in it to accept the screws, but the studs aren't that wide and there's a good chance that some of the holes won't line up with your studs. My studs were 18 inches apart and I was only able to line the holes in the main metal piece up with two of every three studs and had to use an anchor for the other third. A carpenter friend told me to drill my own holes into the metal if the holes weren't lining up with all the studs - those who have the equipment for that could give it a whirl. 3. It's not that aesthetically pleasing. Although you can overlap shelves to make them bigger, the seam where they overlap is visible and it doesn't look great. But overall, I'm happy with the shelving systems

Amazing- but buy different anchors!
This system turned my son's micro closet into something useable and practical. Prepping my closet for installation is what took forever ( old house), but installing the shelves only took me about an hour & was so simple. I loved how I didn't have to cut anything and it just gives you a semi custom look with the adjustable shelves. It's a perfect solution for kids or small closets. It gave us so much more storage room. My only suggestion is to buy good anchors if you aren't strictly going to be installing on studs. The anchors provided blow- I wouldn't even try them out. I had some self tapping anchors in the garage that worked perfect for the one place I needed an anchor. This system is not going to be falling down!

Best kit for the value, total closet makeover!
I don't even know where to start with this setup!! I bought this months before I got to actually install it after I got a great bargain at a little under $100. Our future master bedroom closet was...a mess. It took us several weeks of work within our spare time to do demo, patching, sanding, priming, painting etc. in order to get us prepped for this kit. Once we finally got a CLEAN closet, the fun began! The older building our co-op is situated in made things difficulty due to the thickness of the walls in our closet. The anchors would NOT work that came with the kit. So after failed attempts and putting the kit aside for a bit, we finally got the right anchors and were able to build our closet. We ended up going through THREE drill bits drilling holes through our walls as they were getting worn down so badly! My boyfriend is an architect and he was beyond himself! If it wasn't for this...this kit would have been completed in an afternoon. It took us the span of a week due to frustrations we encountered. But the kit is not at fault! While I do complain about the cruddy anchors...once the rails and supports are in proper place it's a breeze! It allowed us to make such efficient use of our 8 foot closet that I couldn't even FILL the closet and my boyfriend was able to actually have space in our master bedroom for his clothing! The shelving is fantastic allowing me to store purses, hats, towels, and other random items which saved us space in our dressers. Just a note that I did buy 2 additional Upright Extensions in order to drop some of my shelves lower towards the bottom. We also purchased the tie/belt rack which is really convenient and slides out nicely for easy grabbing of items. I am so thrilled I went with this vs. getting ripped off at the Container Store. DO NOT HESITATE! Looks professional and my friends & family are super impressed!

Happy with closet kit
My old closet system broke. Yikes, too many clothes. I would recommend this closet system! It was easy to install but, my daughter helped me with it; because she has a similar closet system. I like that I could move shelves around until I got the fit for me. A couple more pieces would have been nice. My daughter gave me 2 end caps for the clothes rod and a bracket or two so it would fit right.

Super kit facile a installer
Super kit facile a installer!

Producto recomendable!

Very sturdy, easy to install and versatile
The hardest parts to install are the support brackets (one horizontal 4-5 vertical) as you want them level and you need to screw them in place. The wardrobe system itself is all modular, very easy to install/change around and super versatile. I bought it on amazon as it was less expensive then in store where I live. While in store I compared it to other models/brands in the same price range and it was the only one that didn't band/warp under pressure/weight. It not only met my expectations but those of my significant other's (whom I bought one for), my parents in law (who bought one and are thinking of getting another) and my own parents who are also thinking of getting one. Before buying, make sure to mesure your wardrobe to make sure you get the right sized kit!

Easy and useful
I seriously do not understand how anyone could give this a negative review. It was easy to set up (by myself) and made such a difference in my closet. My sister liked it enough to order one for her closet too. She used a different configuration but still easy-peasy to do. Would definitely recommend.

¡Excelente compra!
