Amazing value. Capable amp for most cans.
Very sleek display. Touch buttons work fine for me. They aren't like a cell phone, but not much worse than a standard car these days. The low filter rolloff, and the ability to change the tone is awesome. Pure winner with a Schiit Magni Uber and Beyerdynamic T90's. Fully cranked for a couple hours now and it is just amazing. I have never heard Nights in White Satin where you can point out the cymbals THE ENTIRE SONG. If the darn remote would have worked I would have absolutely no problem giving it an 11. That good. *Apparently, you have to press the C button for this amp?? After that the remote worked fine.*

Like it a Lot: Tremendous Flexibility, Excellent Sound, and Very Good Value - Mediocre Display Screen
After a weeks use I can tell this is a very fine DAC, with a lot of flexibility and features that most other DACs don't have. It sounds really great, both through the line out and headphones. At just under $200 it is also a bargain. I really wish I could give it 5 stars, but for me the use of tiny fonts on the display knocks it down a notch. I wanted a DAC that had remote control and adjustable volume from both the headphone jack, and the rear line outs. This does both, and very few do. This makes it simple for me to hook to my non-remote (but very nice) stereo system and control the volume whether I am watching TV or listing to digital streaming music. When I considered other choices, the D4 really stands out because of its use of really high quality components, excellent DAC chips, a great Op Amp for the headphones (the same one used in the Objective2 headphone amp), built in linear power supply, a lot of things you do not generally find under $200. The Sabaj website is sabaj.com.cn with all the details. It is surprisingly heavy for its size, and seems to be made of cast aluminum (with a plexiglass type front with touch controls). All of that functions great for me. It has the latest Bluetooth 4.2, and a nice real remote (not a credit card flat remote). Everything works as it should. I really like the built in 5 Digital Filter choices, as well as 4 tone settings, that make very subtle changes in the sound, but also let me fiddle a bit. The volume control is in very tiny steps, probably 1 dB, so it is perfect for making adjustments for headphones or my stereo system. So for functions, sound, built quality, everything is better than I expected. The headphone amp sounds great with my Hifiman Planars, and I think would sound great with all but the hardest to drive phones. The Oled display lets it down for my use. Its quality is fine, and I like being able to choose from 4 brightness settings, but the choice of fonts used is FAR to small. I can barely read it from 2 feet away, forget about reading it from TV watching distance. This matters because all of the controls are touch type, not knobs with indicators, so the only way to understand what is happening is with the display. A slightly larger display would be nice, but the real problem is that the lettering is all far too small. If you look at the D4 photos, you can see larger text that say Sabaj D4 when it starts up. That is the only time you see it. I have attached a photo of the D4 and my (also new and really great sounding) Topping D50 DAC. The D50 display is slightly larger, but the real difference is the larger text on the stuff that matters. When you switch sources on the D50 it will briefly show HUGE text that says only "OPT" or "COAX", then it reverts. This is great. If Sabaj could do something similar to the D4 with a Firmware update it would rate a full 5 stars easy. Note: the D50 costs about $50 more, and does not have a headphone amp or remote control. But the specifications of both are almost identical, and they both sound tremendous (I can hear no difference). For me the D4 is still a very nice choice and I can live with the display. Depending on your use it may not matter at all, or it may be a reason to choose another DAC.

I wasn't sure at first but....I am now.
I wanted to use this DAC/Amp for a while before writing this review. I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first because there were no knobs and it was all remote control for the most part. Well, I have to say that I'm sold. This amp is loaded with features and sounds amazing with almost anything you throw at it. I will say that I agree with other reviewers that the display is a bit small, but I'm using at my desk so that's not a big deal for me. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase and I don't think there's anything around for the money that has as many features as well as being remote controlled. That turned out to be one of the best things about the amp as well as, it's a great, loud headphone amp.

Very Strange and Very Good Audio Component
This unit utilizes a new high end DAC at a low end price. It creates superb sound but is very strange in a number of ways. No directions or link to directions are provided by the manufacturer. You MUST have directions! At first I thought the remote was defective since it showed no signs of life after new batteries. Turned out I needed to press and hold the mysterious button C on the remote for it to work! It also took about a month to arrive from China. Fortunately, the vendor in California was very supportive, supplied the critical directions, and promptly replied to my queries. Note that the range of the remote is quite limited, the display supplies information that is only a few millimeters high, and the interface is somewhat cumbersome. Yet, I still give it 5 stars based on value. I have another high end digital remote preamp made by Quad costing well over a thousand dollars, and the Sabaj is better sounding!

No customer service.
Great Specs. MY remote would not work at all. Can't read display without a magnifying glass. Didn't have enough power in line out to use as a preamp for my B&K ST 140. Really wanted to like it. Tried to contact Sabaj, spent ours on internet to no avail. So I returned it. Sabaj needs to pay closer attention to customers. I will update post if they ever get back to me.

Great sound , great price.
Great powerful sound, clear, no distortion at all, I have the Hifiman Sundara the sound is incredible, and great price, again, the digital display is impossible to see from my couch, but with the remote control, I only use it for the volume, I did not hear the difference with the filters but I don’t need them, the sound is good anyway. I also bought the Amazon fire stick 4 k to use it with Amazon Music HD great combination, not to happy with the Amazon Music format compared with Spotify needs more improvement, with alexa mic easy to find the music, but the sound quality is superior than Spotify specially Ultra HD. I recommend the Sabaj D4 only if you have a good set of headphones to get the maximum quality of the music and to complement it with HD music if you can.

Buy this if looking for DAC with remote volume control
I searched far and wide for a DAC that had a remote volume control that wasn't super expensive. I believe this is the only one on the market under $200. I'm using this as a dac/preamp for a pair of JBL LSR305 powered monitors, and for a pair of Jamo C103 powered by a pro amp. This is excellent for my needs, and is feature packed. The unit is relatively heavy, sturdy, and oozes good build quality. The screen is small and hard to read from couch distance, but it's not enough for me to take away a star based on everything else this solved for my setup.

A true Jewel!
I will first make a small review: This product is super well constructed; it is solid metal and looks great; it has a very clean finish to it. I have been testing it with Tidal: You can see part of the list yourself in the pictures^. Most of the songs here are in (SQ) HI-FI, but some are the MASTER version, allowing me to actually test audio all the way. I didn't hear any distortion; quite the contrary, I felt and heard everything spectacularly. Songs like: Catatonia - Zero Cult, just sounds deep and true to the actual sound. Mhondoro - 20KID, blasts away in your face. Politiqui - Alpha Blondy, crosses around very real and organic. I could go on… but you get the point. So far I have enjoyed and appreciated this DAC, using the USB connection and headphone out. I recommend it to any one who is looking for solid equipment at a fair price. I have yet to find any disatvantages. Hope this review clears out any douts from earlier comments. Cheers, Javier
