Mind Fields: The Art of Jacek Yerka, the Fiction of Harlan Ellison

It is not easy to find these gems in modern times. I love the intense and free creativity of both the art and fantasy writings in this book. Both Yerka and Ellison are brilliant minds. The images are incredible pieces of art that make us believe in magic again.The stories come from a brilliant, educated, aware and astonishingly gifted mind that can produce new and fantastic ideas in ways that few in our history have accomplished. Each piece of writing has a commentary by the author on the process and meaning of the story. It is a wonderful addition to my art and literature collections.

Very well priced, came signed!!! I wasn't expecting a signed copy, but was very pleasantly surprised! As a big Harlan Ellison fan, it made my whole week. Book had very minimal wear, perfect condition!

I like to investigate the images and try to guess what they mean. Then to compare with the text.

I don't know enough of the right words to describe this book. It is a visual masterpiece, accompanied by glimpses into the twisted mind of Harlan Ellison via his interpretation of each picture. Jacek Yerka and Harlan Ellison: a perfect match, if you ask me. If you have trouble getting through some of Ellison's longer works, try this book. And even if you HATE Harlan Ellison, try this book. Nowhere have I seen such hauntingly wonderful illustrations. They stick with you. And sometimes, sometimes, Ellison's story sticks, too.

This is a present for my son, who had a copy (It was one of his favorites) until he made the mistake of loaning it to a friend. He will be SO happy to get a duplicate - & we'll both have a good time going through the pictures again (I too like both Yerka & [esp.] Ellison).

Long time favorite in our family. If you are fan of the "Harlequin", then you will see why they chose Ellison to write what inspired him in Yercka's paintings... even through the tragic death of his son.

Las ilustraciones de Yerka son una maravilla. Los relatos de Ellison se relacionan con las ilustraciones de manera muy poco sólida, son flojos y desprenden un aire aleccionador algo molesto. Un desperdicio de espacio teniendo en cuenta que este podía haberse empleado para imprimir más ilustraciones del artista polaco. Ellison's short stories are weak, and their relationship to the paintings is anything but solid. A waste of space when you realize that those pages could be printed with more illustrations from the polish artist. Personally, I don't feel the need for a fabricated story; Yerka's paintings speak by themselves. By the way, I'd like to tell you that the other book from this same editor titled "The Fantastic Art of Jacek Yerka" does not repeat any of the illustrations in this book.

I love the art of Jacek Yerka. And having the stories (by Harlan Ellison) alongside each piece makes the amazing paintings come to life. I am thinking who else I know will like this book. Thankyou

Splendide e piene di sogno - come sempre - le immagini generate dalla fertile, surreale fantasia di Jacek Yerka. Inquietanti e coinvolgenti su vari piani i racconti brevi che le illustrano, scaturiti dalla penna di Harlan Ellison, riconosciuto e talentuoso genio del fantastico. Un libro da gustare lentamente, immagine dopo immagine, racconto dopo racconto, con occhio attento e mente aperta fino a lasciarsene pervadere interamente. Perfetto nella lingua originale. Ma è un peccato non ne esista una versione tradotta per dare a tutti la possibilità di goderne.

Bought it initially 15 years ago on a trip across the Atlantic to Boston. Keep coming back to it over the years. Just some memorable about it. I know surrealism is not so fashionable in Art these days, I think people are missing out.

Non mi dilungo sul prodotto in sé (che è semplicemente meraviglioso), ma mi limito a dirvi che con prime è arrivato puntuale il giorno dopo l'ordine ed in perfette condizioni. I racconti sono 33, ciascuno associato all'immagine di un'opera di Yerka. Il prezzo è più basso di quello che ho trovato su altri siti. Aggiungo che se costasse il triplo vi consiglierei egualmente l'acquisto :D
