Easy to install
It’s difficult to know if it works because nothing should happen. Nothing has happened. So that good.

This Item works as Intended. And it is not supposed to light up.
This Item Does Not Have Any lights or LEDs in it, so don't worry if it doesn't light up. It does Not Need any lights or LEDs in it. It is not a circuit breaker, and will not "trip" like a circuit breaker, and then can be reset. The indicator window is only that, a viewing window. If the windows are Green, then the device is working properly. If one or both of the windows are red, that means the device has faulted, and manually flipped the indicator color in the viewing windows. Plain and simple, if this device lights up then you have a major problem. Just trust me, I'm an Electrician and install these all the time. Also, there is No Way to test these unless you want to send a surge through your power meter over what the device is rated for. Go ahead and do that while you blow up everything in your house at the same time. Again it's a surge protective device SPD that operates according to voltage fluctuations, and Not a circuit breaker which operates due to the amount of amps being used. They are completely different things.

Great surge protector
Great value, quality product. NEC requires surge protection. Great design. Our company has ordered probably 50 of these. Never a failure.

It works... I guess
A whole house surge protector just seems like a no brainer, when you consider all the stuff you have in your house. I went with this one because it fits into my Siemens panel box, G3030B1150. I am not certain if it is required but I moved it as close as I could to the main as possible. The interlock switch kept me from making it the first. The surge protector installation is pretty simple and the only issue was moving breakers to make space for it. There seemed to be a little more tension placing it in, requiring more force. There is no LED indicator and only two small windows that shows green. This is normal, even though there is competing documentation that indicates there is an LED. I guess it is working because with a surge protector, you never know until you need it. Like insurance you just assume it will work when time comes. Siemens is a good company so I trust it will come through when I need it. The stickers on the panel box are there because my daughter liked the pictures. They made her smile...enough said.

Installed in my RV
RV Power systems need protection from surges. A lightning strike nearby can destroy electronic devices connected to the RV pwer. Many people have protection devices attached to the pedestal, which checks for wiring faults, and has surge protection. But I always boondock, and i sometimes use a generator. It's better to have built-in power protection for all situations. My RV power center has a Siemens panel, so this device is an exact fit. It occupies two slots, and you only need to connect the white wire to neutral. Done.

rewrite on earlier review.
I wrote an earlier review saying this product did not work after I bought it and installed it. I was wrong. The product did work fine and I did not realize that until I bought another one and then installed it and still the light did not come on. Asking other people I found out that that light does not come on unless the device experiences a surge of power and then it does what it's designed to do, and that light will come on to inform you that it had experienced a surge. All in all the product is simple to install and it is a quick fix to add a search protector to a home.

A Cost Effective and Simple Whole House Surge Suppressor Solution
This product is a good cost effective solution for a whole house surge suppressor. Very easy to intall, even easier than replacing a breaker. Even though my Siemens panel is about 35 years old, I had no issues. Fit like a glove. It's best to have this at the top of the panel. This way any surge will be shunted by the surge suppressor before it has a chance to run down the circuits. That did mean moving the right side breakers down two slots, but that wasn't difficult. Also best to have it on the same side as the neutral bus bar so you can make a direct connection to it with the pigtail (cut as short as practical), which was also on the right side of my Siemens load center. I'm a bit surprised that the pigtail is 16 AWG and not at least 14 AWG. But it is UL listed for this function, so that must be all that is needed. I rated at 4 stars only due to the product design. As it has mechanical flag indicators (they are not LEDs), one has to trust that as you have it plugged into the bus bar that it's working. Would be nice to have confirmation that it's powered up correctly. Of course you could pay more for the higher end product that has LEDs. Siemens does make quality products, so I'll trust that green flags means it's good. If you have electrical skills to safely change a breaker, you can install this product without any issues. I love the Siemens load center approach, just hook the breakers on the channel and snap them into place. Easy as can be.

Easy to install. Assume it is working.

This is a good device if you want an easy install. It’s not compatible with every brand of electrical panel but doesn’t require an additional breaker. It’s not the highest ratting but should be able to do the job.
