Q: can this work to program an AC unit for 2 hours everyday?

Is your AC 10,000 BTU or LESS? If "yes," then perform this test: Turn your AC "On" and set it to your specific fan-speed and temperature setting. THEN, WITHOUT changing its settings or turning it off by its control panel, disconnect its plug from the outlet for a couple of minutes....then plug it back in. Does the AC then RESUME running at your same, pre-set fan speed and temperature-setting without re-setting the air conditioner's controls? If "yes," then this timer will work for your purpose! If the AC is "Off" when you plug it back in or it restarts with temperature and fan speed settings that's not as you like them to be, then the use of this timer would not work for your purpose. NOTE: DO NOT USE FOR AIR CONDITIONERS THAT EXCEED 10,000 BTU, as their initial power-draw may exceed this timer's wattage-limit.

Q: Can you fit two of these on the same outlet one above the other? Or are they too wide?

No. Only one device per outlet. The other outlet is usable if it is plugged in to the bottom. Plugged into the top will cover the bottom as well. And the seller should know this.

Or at typical electrical price rate of 12 cents per kWh, costs about a nickel per month.

Q: can this be used 24hrs a day

Sort of. The repeat button will repeat the same 15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 2 hr, 4 hr, or 6 hr cycle each day. So, you can have it on up to 6 hours a day using the repeat function. However, you can only have it turn on once during each day, and if it loses power even for a second it will forget everything. So, a mechanical dial type is better in both ways. You can have it turn on and off multiple times, and short power failures only put the timer a bit behind, it doesn't forget all it's settings.
