So Black/Yellow is right handed, Gold is left handed?

No, Gold (this one) is Right handed, Black/yellow is left handed. Then there is the totally black version that can be right or left.

Will this fit 9.8 mm rope ?

On the device it says 10-13mm but on the petzl site and also in the description above, it says "It is compatible with ropes measuring 8 to 13 mm in diameter"
