I've just bought my second little tub of this rust remover. I have a large floor loom with a rusty reed... I've given it one coat of this and it's really made a big difference. Some parts need a second coat which is fair considering how difficult the job was. I've bought a second rub ready for some other smaller jobs. I think it's well worth the money.

Did the job perfectly.

After using the Hammerite Rust Remover Gel , I have mixed feelings about its performance. On the positive side, the non-drip feature proved to be quite handy during application, minimizing the chances of creating a mess. The ability to use it on both interior and exterior metal surfaces without causing damage to paint is a definite plus. However, I did encounter a few drawbacks . Firstly, the effectiveness in rust removal was satisfactory but not exceptional. It worked better on lighter rust, and for more stubborn rust spots, additional applications were needed. This aspect made the process a bit more time-consuming than I anticipated. So, the Hammerite Rust Remover Gel is a decent option for minor rust problems, but it might fall short for more extensive or stubborn rust issues. With some improvements in the formula's potency and texture, it could easily result in a higher quality product!

Does what it says on the tin although I found that it is not very good at penetrating into things it’s only good for applying directly onto the surface. Great on metals but if you’ve got a rust stain on something it will not work, it only works on the metal itself, so if something rusty has stained something other than metal like a table etc it will not work for that, it was worth a try though and I’ve since used it on metals like intended and works great on metal.

This Hammerite Rust Remover Gel is excellent. If anyone is familiar with the industrial hand cleaner Swarfega, this gel looks exactly like that. It's a bright green gel that you can apply to horizontal or vertical surfaces with a detailing brush. You will need a 25mm (1 inch for our prehistoric American cousins) flat or round detailing brush. Anything larger will not fit through the bottle neck. You cover the rust with the gel. The bright green colour helps you identify where you have brushed it (unless your car is bright green of course). You then wait 20 minutes and see if the rust will brush or wipe off. I found that lighter rust stains would lift off after 20 minutes. The darker rust areas took 2 or three re-applications. You don't need to clean between re-applications. You just brush more of the gel onto those areas. I had purchased a pre-owned car. The car slowly started suffering from condensation. I traced the problem to a missing rubber drain plug in the bottom of the spare wheel well. By the time I discovered the problem, the bottom of the well had brown rust stains. Hammerite Rust Remover Gel sorted the problem beautifully, and most importantly, it did not damage the paint in the wheel well. It's not the fastest rust/rust stain remover. But it works. It's very controllable, and you don't waste any, because its applied by brush and not spray. I was removing rust stains from a painted surface. But if you are removing rust from bare metal, just remember that you will need to apply a rust inhibitor/WD-40/paint, straight after Hammerite Rust Remover Gel does its thing. As it is a remover, not a rust preventer.

It seemed to work after the first application, but left the metal dark and stained, I tried a couple more applications but it got no better. After a couple of days rust was returning (see second photo). I bought some Barkeepers Friend for around £2.50 elsewhere and had a much better result - see subsequent photos. One of the pairs of secateurs was left pitted, I’m not sure if that was from the original rust or the Hammerite Rust Remover.

L'ho usato su una brutta colata di ruggine nella vasca da bagno (ghisa smaltata). L'ho dovuto applicare più volte per poter ottenere un risultato definitivo, ma è molto delicato sullo smalto pertanto non lo ritengo un fattore negativo. Dopotutto quel che conta è il risultato finale.
