GALT First Pottery Kit – Fun Arts and Crafts Kit for Kids, Age 6 Plus

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for an 8 year old. She loves pottery and making things, and as this was on a special deal at the time I thought it would be quite a good option for her to do at home, without having to buy too many additional materials. The slab of clay that comes with it is pretty large, so you could make a few items- it isn't just one of those one hit wonders where you can't do much with it :-) The instructions are very clear as well- although the child needed a little bit of help she was able to read them on her own, and digest what was meant to be done but at the same time it didn't make it too simple and dumbed down for older kids. The clay is air dry so you just have to leave it overnight and then you can paint it the next day. This might pose a little issue for some children who are impatient, but quite frankly shouldn't be a problem. I would suggest sticking to a simple design as the more complex ones- like the jewellery box- was a little complicated and didn't work too well. It is a great set, and excellent value. You will easily get your money's worth out of it. I would certainly purchase it again for another child. I think it would be usable for either sex, up until the age of probably 10 or 11, although you might get away with a bit older if they are really into art.

Amazing for family time kids had so much the fun

Got this as xmas present for my daughter (6yrs). She had a great time being creative with it, paints included good quality (still trying to scrub it out my flooring!). It would have been great if it came with storage for remaining clay, I was supposed to wrap in cling film to prevent clay drying out as with most kids my daughter did not pack away clay most times properly so a storage tub included would have been a great addition. Other than that lots of fun!

Pretty good value for the money and includes the paints too (although quite small). You'll have to be quite frugal with it to last the entire slab of clay (which is small as well). Really enjoy that it air dries and no oven is needed. The clay stays pliable for quite some time and the kids enjoy playing with it for a while. The biggest downside is that once dried, the clay is very fragile and brittle. It can crack and break even without touching. Nevertheless, the kids enjoy it. The paint dries quickly with a glossy sheen. Might buy again or try another brand to see if the dried clay is more durable.

Bought as a gift for a 10 yr old. You get a large slab of air-drying clay, a good selection of coloured ceramic paints, a plastic roller, a plastic 2-edged sculpting knife and an instruction leaflet which shows you how to make coil pots, pinch pots & slab pots. Apart from the listed contents, all you need is a small pot of water and some old newspaper to cover your work surface (maybe an apron or old shirt for the child if they tend to be messy workers). As a former Art Teacher, I can say that most kids enjoy working with clay, and this kit gives them a nice introduction to the craft. The instruction leaflet keeps it nice and simple, but the results are pleasing. After you've made your pot, just leave it overnight to dry, then it can be painted with the ceramic paints. Would recommend - a very enjoyable activity pack !

Einfach in der Handhabung, aber für die Gestaltung muss man ein Händchen haben. Sonst super für einen regnerischen Nachmittag mit dem Kind.
