Great device
I've had my iOTA ONE for a couple of weeks now so feel I can give a fair review. Firstly I got mine for £99 on Prime day so it was an even better bargain than the normal £158. I've been thinking of getting something like this for a while and at the price point of £99 it was a no brainer decision. A lot of people who've seen it assume its a >£300 bit I kit (it really does look and feel that good), I do not like to spoil their illusions. I was a little skeptical as to how good it would actually be be when I placed the order but once I got the device I was blown away with it, it looks and feels really high quality. I won't repeat what a lot of the other reviews have said but I'll try to add to the discussion. Firstly once all set-up and having installed all the software I was going to use on it I still had over half of the inbuilt 32Mb free, so so-far I've not felt the need to use the micro SD slot but its good to know its there if needed. Also the 2Mb of RAM seems to be sufficient for smooth running, I've noticed no lag or slowdown yet, and I often have a number of programs running when in use. The screen while small is very easy to read and shows everything in excellent quality, and is fine casual sofa surfing or when out and about, the touch screen element is brilliant as well. But when at home and using it 'seriously' I tend to use the mini HDIM out to a larger screen (21" or even my 40" TV) and have it set up as dual screen, using the larger as my main screen and the small 10" of the device itself as secondary screen. Again this works perfectly and there is no noticeable lag or judder at all. Whist talking about the graphics, there is one online MMO game I dip into from time to time, I thought that it would never work on this device but gave it a go anyway and to my amazement it worked! Ok only on medium quality and at a low frame rate (<15 fps) but good enough to actually use! It looks great on my TV! Oh and the sound goes to my TV as well via the HDMI so sounds good! I've also used it to play Sky Go content to my TV and again it worked fine! Using as tablet works well as well when I have no need for a keyboard, using Flipboard, browsing news sites, playing simple games etc. The one weak point for me is the keyboard, and that is probably me, not the device. I tend to find laptop keyboards hard to use at the best of times and though I am happy to use the inbuilt keyboard for light text input. The problem I find is as I touch type my palm seems to lightly brush the touch pad causing the mouse pointer to jump around. When at home I tend to use a wireless USB keyboard (and mouse) and this works fine for me. So i have a situation where when at home I have the video running to a larger screen, I use an external keyboard and mouse, and, I use the inbuilt screen as a secondary display, perfect. When out I can use it as a normal laptop or tablet and it works fine in that situation as well. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this for anyone who wants a small portable computing device for work, school or just for fun. One last point, like most here I'd never heard of iOTA before, so curious I went to look at their website. They seem to be a UK based company (though the device itself is no doubt made in China). The interesting thing was that this is the only device they seem to sell and the only place they sell it is on Amazon! Makes me wonder if it's an Amazon subsidiary rather than a wholly independent company. Not that it really matters, excellent item and a unbelievable price. UPDATE: I have discovered one more weak point in the inbuilt wi-fi. At home I have a 52 Mbps internet connection. When I use fast.com to test the connection speed my mobile phone reports the full 52 Mbps but when I do the same from the iOTA on a 'good' day it will report a connection speed of ~20 Mbps and on a bad day < 1 Mbps. This can lead to a choppy connection at time when watching video. Overall and for the price this is not a major concern but just something to be aware of. Still an incredible bit of kit for the price.

but what is really terrible is the detachable keyboard
The tablet is OK but it comes with about 75% of the memory already filled by the systems applications. but what is really terrible is the detachable keyboard. The touch pad is totally rubbish and unresponsive. The sensors makes the onscreen mouse indent constantly jump around and you are continually having to re-open or close applications because you inadvertently open or close them. The interface without the keyboard is very responsive and has a decent battery life but it is all let down by the keyboard.

Amazon does not care; If you purchase one it may be damaged or missing.
This product revealed how appalling amazon is managed. Ordered this on prime day, 11 July 2017 which revealed how terrible and insecure the parcels are managed. I received the iOTA one with a damaged screen which amazon customer service said they will send me a new one. When i received the second package, the original packaging of the iOTA was already opened. However, THE iOTA ONE LAPTOP WAS MISSING!!! Received another one (third iOTA) and it had a touch pad and the keyboard attachment with tablet was defective and serious fault with the mouse. It seems like this product is not cared for by amazon or a flawed device hence the one star rating. So the product review will be based on the both iOTA i received: Cons: Battery overheats a lot while using youtube. Processor is too weak to multi task. x64 based processors are commonly found in phones. Advertised as 1.8GHz but its 1.33GHZ Start up takes time and it is a wait to connect to WiFi. Camera quality is okay for the price. Touch pad is absolutely appalling. Its all over the place, at times it does not respond. Matt black finish leaves a lot of finger prints/ grease marks. Clarity of speakers is just below average. Very few items on the market to protect the product. Requires a little more pressure for touch screen. Micro SD card slot is exposed, does not seem secure. Resetting the laptop takes very long. After uninstalling the programs it still lacked to reset. Pros: Light weight making it good for travel. There is a micro USB port so you can add micro USB to USB to gain access to your external drives in tablet mode. Can connect to a TV via micro HDMI to HDMI cable in tablet mode. Has two USB ports on the keyboard which uses 5 gold pins to connect to the tablet. Has a headphone input and mic. Full charge takes 3/4 hours and lasts double depending on use. I used Microsoft edge (internet provided) and word for writing, lasting 7 hours. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to add additional mouse and keyboard.

Great purchase - great value - really happy with it
I'm really pleased I decided to purchase the iOTA ONE. I'm really sorry I missed out on the Amazon Prime Day price of £99 but at £159.99 it is still an absolute bargain. A MS Surface Pro or iPad, whilst highly desirable, were way beyond my budget so I've been looking for a reasonable compromise but there seemed to be pros and cons with everything I looked at. I'd never heard of this brand before but was impressed by the other reviews and the company's responses to questions. Setting up was easy and everything worked first time after the Windows update. It took about 2 hours in total to download and install the updates so just be patient. It does just what I wanted it to do and more - it actually loads faster than my laptop! I bought a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB Micro SDXC at the same time so feel I have more than enough memory to suit my needs. Having Windows and MS Office Mobile software is a bonus for seamless working on documents and it linked without any problems to my Windows PC and Windows Phone. It's a pleasure to use as a tablet or with the keyboard. My wireless micro mouse works a treat which makes working on longer documents and spreadsheets a breeze (this uses up 1 of the USB ports on the keyboard though). Finding all my Kindle books available and being able to access Prime with a 10" screen makes watching films and TV away from home realistic as well as making documents easier on the eye. I'm more than happy with the screen - some of my photos look much better than I'd realised. I like to paint so being able to zoom in with such good colour and clarity for examining detail is great too. Surfing and online shopping are a pleasure. Technology moves on so quickly it begs the question is it really worth spending a lot of money on your kit when it will be obsolete in no time and especially when it an addition to your technology rather than a replacement for your workhorse. The quality of this kit and performance, so far, has really surprised me and, as I don't have any negative comments, I have no hesitation in recommending it to others based on my experience.

Fantastic wee laptop, only downside is the touchpad.
I bought the iOTA ONE as I wanted a lightweight laptop, that could also function as a tablet if I wanted. My main desire was to be able to connect to a remote server and work on Python scripts, but also to type up documents and presentations. In regards to my wishes, it has been perfect. It has a great battery life, so I can take it to work without the charger and it lasts all day and then some. It is quite happy working with a few Word documents open and I’ve not encountered any freezing or stalling. I did try to run a memory intensive tool, it did manage and continued to run well but would have taken too long to be of any use. On the whole though it works fine with handling multiple tasks. The only negatives I have is the touchpad. It is a pain. I’ve bought a wireless mouse for it, which cost £6 and it is well worth it. Yes, it is annoying having to buy a separate mouse but the frustration of trying to click on something, then having your pointer jump to the bottom left hand corner of the screen, takes away from how good this wee laptop is. Before I got a separate mouse, I used the touchscreen instead, but right-clicking isn’t always the easiest like that. Another thing, though not the laptop’s fault but just something to be aware of. The Windows store doesn’t consider the laptop a tablet, even though it has a tablet mode. So if there were apps you wanted for tablets, you won’t be able to get them. I think on the whole that doesn’t matter. I was worried about the Kindle desktop app but it appears to work just like the tablet one when the laptop is in tablet mode. Overall, I’m very happy and pleased I made the purchase.

CPU is NOT 1.8Ghz, it's 1.33. Quite a few pluses but too many minuses. Save your money. This is false economy.
I bought this for £99 and thought I was getting a bargain. In some ways it's a great little gadget but in others it's really not good at all. Pros: - Nice build quality overall. - Small and portable - Good battery life - Good connectivity options - works well with my Anker Soundcore BT speaker - Pretty nice screen really for the money Cons: - Too small to be very practical as a laptop - Atrociously bad sound quality from the tiny, tinny speakers - Frustratingly slow performance - not all of the time but too often - Inexplicably, the description sells this as having an Atom CPU at 1.8 GHz but a look at the system properties reveals that it is, in fact, running at 1.33 GHz. Either a massive mistake somewhere or blatant deception from the manufacturer. - The keyboard dock is quite good BUT it is a very unstable connection and it doesn't take much movement until I hear the disconcerting system sound of the screen (tablet) disconnecting from the dock, despite still being attached. What this means is - if you have an external USB drive of whichever type plugged in, you risk serious issues with consequences of "unsafe removal" as you move the screen. - On a few occasions, when watching the TV Series, "Wolf Creek" (highly recommended but not for the faint-hearted) the screen would go black but the sound would continue (through the Anker speaker). I couldn't get the screen to come back on without soft resetting it - i.e. By holding down the power button for about 10 seconds. Very frustrating. Could be down to the software but couldn't be sure. - Windows 10 - what can I say? You either love it or hate it. Not a big fan of it, based on the experience with this machine. So, in short, plenty of potential in this thing BUT the bad points outweigh the good, for me at least. Save the 100-150 quid or so on this and put it towards something better.

Ask yourself, what do you really need from your device? Then save a lot of money buying this one.
I bought this little gem of a device on Prime Deal Day for £99 and have to say I'm more than happy - happy with what it can do for such a remarkably low price, though I know now that even at the normal price it would have had that same effect. Obviously most people will be drawn into comparing the iOTA ONE with other tablet/laptop devices, and I was the same, delaying my purchase until I saw the price of £99 which swayed my decision. For my part, based on portability I had avoided netbooks and gone down the tablet route - naughtily rooting my excellent Kindle Fire HD, moving through the iPads up to my latest one, the iPad Air 2 - but had found there was always something missing for my needs, meaning I always had to take the Kindle Fire HD, the iPad and its ridiculously-priced cables or Apple TV with me when I travelled. This machine appeared to meet all of those needs in one device however, so I took the chance. But what were my needs? Well, I wanted a small, portable machine for holiday and work travel that was capable of running Kodi, would play films from an external hard drive, could be linked to a widescreen TV with an HDMI lead, had an adequate and reasonably expandable internal memory as well as a detachable keyboard. Now I realise that many will suggest there are other machines of this type that will do all those things, that they will do them faster too, but having done my research I'm probably aware of them already - and they are almost always more expensive, far more expensive. But what about the iOTA ONE? Although it's still perhaps too early to comment fully, I can only say I've been impressed so far. Taken from its "reassuringly expensive"- looking packaging, it appears to be a solidly made device. After booting up and installing the latest Windows 10 update as prompted, I got to work installing a 64GB microSD card (not supplied) and all the programs I needed - all of this went without a hitch, so after a very short time getting used to the smaller keyboard and using it as a tablet I tested the functions I'd bought the device for - and all of these worked perfectly too (although my external hard drives needed a separate power supply USB Y cable - c£5). The screen is bright and sharp, the keyboard feels solid, battery life is very good and the trackpad works perfectly. As I'd expected, it's noticeably slower when loading programs, but it's not irritatingly slower if you know what I mean. Streaming works flawlessly, though I should mention that the sound from the speakers isn't great - a not unusual finding with such devices, but nothing bluetooth speakers/earbuds/headphones can't cure. In short, I've feel I've found exactly what I was looking for. Naturally there will be people who will argue that the slower speed would be an issue for them, that the extraordinarily low price can only mean the device is inferior in terms of build quality and performance and that the Windows 10 OS is "rubbish" for whatever reason, but in my experience I'd say that that's simply unfair, as this is a much better than expected, apparently well-built device that performs very, very well - at a low price that should shame well-known brands who draw most customers towards buying devices that often cost in excess of four times as much, devices they will most likely never use to their full potential, devices which - as I'd found - only provided a compromise solution to my needs. They're entitled to their opinion of course, but I remain happy I've got what I need at a bargain price, hence my asking "Ask yourself, what do you really need from your device?". Lastly, I should mention that iOTA have replied many times to comments left here and people have reported good customer support, that's always a good sign in my view. I'm sorely tempted to buy another...

Great little 2-in-1 Laptop
I'm really impressed with this 2-in-1 laptop. It arrived yesterday and i spent a few hours playing around with it. First thing, this machine is very well built, there's a quality feel about it. The windows update took about an hour on my standard broadband, but while it's updating you can still use the computer. There isn't much storage space, so a micro card is a must. Good tip - after the windows update is complete, run 'Clean Disk' to clear unwanted system files - this frees up almost 4GB of storage. Also there are a few games you can also uninstall. Internet browsing is quick, battery life is excellent. It comes with Microsoft mobile office (Word, excel, powerpoint and note) ready to use. The mouse pad button is quite hard, but is ok, works well. The screen come away from the keyboard easily, by pressing a button in the middle. Last night I watched a prime video, using the screen only, the picture quality was excellent. I initially put the charger in the earphone socket, as they are very close together. Connecting to the wifi printer was easy, but this will depend on the printer you have. It's not the fastest computer in the world, but does a great job doing light tasks. Overall, very happy with it.

Ottimo
