How does this device accurately measure nutrients in soil? Meaning what is the actual science behind its function?

No idea but it seems to work my plants look great as long as I keep the ph ,nutes, where they need to be

The needle never moves when testing ph. I tried different soil types and the needle remained all the way to the left. Why isn't it reading?

how do you know that you have several different types of soil? so to find out add a handful of ph stuff, one way or another...acid or basic..like camilla fertilizer to a small area and water and wait a week and retest..if it doesn't good acid them the meter is faulty...or...take it to a nursery and test it on different plants there. The seconds reason is that because the current soil conditions are ideal,the soil is slighty acidic to neutral. So the scale plate needle does not swing and stays on the 5-7 position after inserting soil. Please note insert the meter probe into the soil 2-4 inches, or the pH value testing may fail.

Not sure,it doesn't say on it.There is a symbol on the back saying UKCA.Other than that it's made by moistanland and their website has a contact email that might help you! Meter works great no matter where it's from.I'm happy with it!
