Does this lead smudge (like if my hand rubs across) when used on ritr paper?

Yes, the lead will smudge like other pencil lead, even on Rite in the Rain paper. However, your notes won't get washed away by water. Thank you for your question!

When used with the company's "rite in the rain all weather index cards" is the writing water and snow proof? and can it be erased to reuse the card?

Hi Cliff. Yes, our paper and what you write on it will be weather-proof but you will still be able to erase from it easily. Our Mechanical Clicker Pencil eraser works even when the paper is wet. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

I lost the spring to mine after I took it apart once and would like to replace it to fix my pencil, what spring do I use?

Sorry to hear that you lost a piece of the pencil! We would be happy to provide you with a replacement part if you reach out to us through our website. Just scroll to the bottom of the home page and click the "All-Weather Guarantee" logo for our contact information. Please include a picture of you pencil with your email. Thank you for your question!

How comparable is this to the rd99 thats no linger available?

There are a few big differences between the YE13 and RD99 pencils. The YE13 pencil has a clicker lead advancement and 1.3mm lead, versus the twist mechanism and 1.1mm lead on the RD99. The YE13 is also a little heavier and longer than the old pencils. We do sell 1.3mm red lead separately for the new pencils too: https://a.co/d/gWtEVtn. Thank you for your question!
