Excellent Price - Excellent Taste
Great flavored coffee beans. Repeatedly purchased and have never had a problem with the great quality.

Now my favorite coffee
This coffee is fresh. It more than doubles the amount of crema I was getting from any other coffee. That includes coffee from a local roaster. Not only was this fresh, but it was incredibly smooth. I hate bitterness in coffee but I found virtually none in this coffee. For the record, I use it to make espresso with a fully manual expression machine from Flair. I'm not an expert on flavor layers, but this had a really nice chocolatey flavor to me.

One of the best decaf coffees.
This is my absolute favorite Decaf coffee. I just wish that the price were lower. It seems like every time I go to buy it, there's a significant price increase. Gotta love those tariffs.

Fresh, Big, bold flavor. Great for an espresso machine.
I'm coming off of another decaf brand that I was trying which was pretty terrible. I'm glad I found this one because it's economical (or what passes for it these days) and a good flavor. It's very bobolddark, and maybe a little sweet. I grind it finely and use an espresso machine. I've only had a couple of cups but so far so good. 5 lb bag is huge, but I have hey food vacuum machine, so I divided them into five separate 1 lb bags and put before I'm not using in the freezer. Otherwise, I don't think my wife and I can go through the coffee fast enough before it goes stale.

It tastes like it’s not even decaf
For a while, I was ordering Kona decaf from a place in Hawaii. Recently, their decaffeination vendor went out of business, so they had to switch to a new one. After the switch, the quality of the decaf degraded significantly, and I had to find an alternative. I searched on Amazon and found a company in New Jersey called Direct Coffee Company. I ordered their decaf espresso, and it tastes really good. I prefer the CO2 decaffeination process, which this seems to be, and the flavor is great. I highly recommend it if you like a very dark, oily roast. I'm also going to try their other offerings, like the Colombian CO2 decaf light roast

Very bitter, thin and little flavors.
I switch to decaf because I have to control my eye pressure. So, I learned the CO2 decaf process can preserve most original flavors of coffee beans. It is hard to find CO2 processed decaf beans, so I was happy to find this one and looking forward to enjoying it. When I opened the bag, I was impressed by the strong fragrance. I first tried to do my usual V60 pour-over, the cup turned out to be bitter with little flavor and body. I was very surprised as the outcome was very different from what I read about CO2 decaf method. I changed my brewing method using Aeropress, lowing the water temperature to 90 degrees C, also set my grinding mark higher and allowed longer submersing time. The result was slightly better, less bitter, little more body, but still thin with little tastes. When I ground the coffee beans by hand, I felt the beans were very hollow with no resistance at all. I understand that the CO2 processing can change the structure of beans and remove some chemicals but no flavor? I realize the CO2 process has high costs so it doesn't make sense to use very good beans. After this experience, I decide to look for Swiss water or EA processed beans, either one will do but has to be good beans to start with. BTY, the blooming looked good when I did the pour-over, proving the roasting was freshly done. From the 'Best by' date printed, I assume that It was roasted around one month before I brewed. I tried a coupled decaf beans before this one, one was Swiss water processed and the other was EA processed. The beans were not as fresh as this CO2 processed one, they also had literally no fragrance before I brewed. However they turned out to have more flavors and body. Update: I tried different ways to brew with this brand of beans, they just turned out to be bitter. Also, the beans obviously are dark roasted, since you can see oil covers the beans. I am upset that why the description for this product is so off, it even states that it is light roasted. Just look at the color! (see my 2nd picture ) I just have to change to 1 star from previous 2 stars.

Best decaf period
Almost all of the whole-bean decaf sold are dark roasts even if they say medium or light roast. In addition, Swiss Water Method removes most of the flavor and natural oils of the bean. The CO2 decaf method is superior in maintaining the flavor and removes more caffeine. Is more expensive to produce than SWM which is soaking in water and then re-combining the oils to re-introduce the flavor. This brand is the best quality, best tasting decaf beans I can find. I spent $$$ trying all in the market online and offline. With the exception of Illi Italian decaf beans, all the rest went to to trash because they tasted like burnt cigarette ashes. These coffee beans make rich, creamy smooth tasting coffee. If you are hesitant to buy 5 lbs , they also sell 1 lbs, look around to find it.

Nice, rich flavor
I normally go for medium roasts for espresso since I drink it straight, and the dark roasts tend to have a burnt undertone that can range from unpleasant to downright nasty. This roast from Coffee Bean Direct is the exception, however. The flavor is rich with smokey tones, but no (or very little) burned flavor. Excellent crema as well. While I can't say for sure since I don't like milk in my coffee, I imagine the flavor would stand up very well in a milk-based drink. I did try it as an Americano, and it was quite good. The flavors were toned down a bit as you would expect, but still came through nicely. I did have to fiddle with the grind level a bit to get a decent shot. The setting I use for medium roast beans nearly choked my espresso machine - took nearly 50 seconds for a double shot and, as you can imagine, was quite horrible. I had to go two full notches coarser on my Vario grinder to get a good shot. I expect this is due to the fact that the darker roast is much more oily than the medium roasts, and needs a coarser grind. I do wish it came in a smaller package so it would be easier to store and keep fresh. But, the five pound bag comes at an excellent per-pound price. Good beans at a good price. Highly recommend.
