Question 1

Cellular cost

Accepted Answer

The cellular camera model is GardePro X50. The cost of the data plan varies from $7/mo to $15/mo. The BASIC plan offers 500 pictures or 5,000 seconds of lite video for $7/mo, the STANDARD plan offers 1,500 pictures or 15,000 seconds of lite video for $10/mo, and the PREMIUM plan offers 5,000 pictures or 50,000 seconds of lite video for $15/mo. One picture is equivalent to 10 seconds of lite video. You can save 20% with an annual subscription.

The X50 features lite video, which is an exclusive feature in the cellular trail camera market so far. Lite video is a lightweight video with fewer frames and the same length as the original recording video. It is included in all plans without additional cost and helps you quickly understand the entire event without downloading additional HD video in most cases.

The lite video offers a huge benefit. In the same data plan, if you set your camera to capture videos instead of photos, and set the video length to less than 10 seconds, for example, 5 seconds per video, you will get twice the number of videos compared to photos. That is, 1) in the BASIC plan, you will get 1,000 5-second lite videos, twice as many as 500 photos. 2) in the STANDARD plan, you will get 3,000 5-second lite videos, twice as many as 1,500 photos, and 3) in the PREMIUM plan, you will get 10,000 5-second lite videos, twice as many as 5,000 photos. Additionally, lite video provides more comprehensive details than photos.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you!

Question 2

what is the total video recording time?

Accepted Answer

For the E5S (no cellular version), with 8 lithium AA batteries, it can record 7 to 8 hours of daytime videos and 7 to 8 hours of nighttime videos in total (averagely). Assuming half and half, shooting 10 daytime videos and 10 night videos (10 second per video) a day, the battery will last about 8 months. The time may vary from batteries quality, temperature and environment. It can take tens of thousands of photos if only taking photos.

Question 3

Does this camera have a GPS locator if it gets stolen?

Accepted Answer

I have two of them. They take photos, day, or night. Not aware of any GPS option. When in the back yard, I just use a camera stand. In front, I have a lock and chain, which I use to secure to a stable location. The thief would need a bolt cutter to steal the unit. I have other live cameras around the house. I would have photos of the thief, as well. If I caught the thief in action, well that is another story. . . .

Question 4

Can it be set up on an existing AT&T cellular plan that we have our phones on?

Accepted Answer

No. You can select the cellular data plan offered by the X50, depending on your usage.
