I have used various brands of line nippers over the years. Some of them don't even cut monofilament line all that well, and are virtually useless at cutting braided line. I bought a pair of these for my grandson, and liked them so well I had to buy a pair for myself. The short sharp scissor blades allow for cutting close to a knot like any other nippers, but will snip through heavy mono as well as braided line.

I bring this little tool on every saltwater fishing trip now. Before this, I carried mini scissors and pliers with line cutters, but after using the SNIP, I stopped bringing all of that. This thing handles braid, mono, and fluorocarbon instantly — it cuts cleanly every time, even with heavier lines. One of the reasons I bought it was because I kept noticing that deckhands, mates, and veteran fishermen were using this exact cutter on the boats I fish on. Now I understand why. It clips right onto my belt, stays out of the way, and I barely notice it’s there until I need it. The spring-loaded retractable design makes it super fast to grab, use, and put back. It’s also one of those tools that makes a perfect Father’s Day gift or stocking stuffer. That’s actually how I got mine — my family gave it to me for Christmas, and I wish I had known about it sooner. After I got this fella, I bought the bigger version as well. I don’t even pack nail clippers or mini scissors anymore. This little cutter replaced all of them. The blade is sharp, the cord works well and its a perfect size. This does exactly what it is made to do.

Braided line presents a challenge when fishing - especially if you are frequently tying on a different lure. You can't bite through it, and traditional clippers make a mess of it. That leaves using a knife (unsafe and not very practical) or scissors. Then along comes this "SNIP" line cutting tool with the built-in retractor. The blades, when new, make quick and clean work of braided (or any other kind of line). Quite convenient. But after a few outings, the blade section now takes a bit more effort and attention to make a clean cut. I'm not sure if the blates are just not aligning correctly, or if they are dulled already. I'm still pretty happy with these snippers, but do wish the cut quality had remained as high as when new.

If you need a line cutter look nowhere else because this thing is perfect. Absolutely my favorite fishing tool that I've purchased. Do you need it Yes in my opinion it is so much better than caring a pair of scissors the locking mechanism is fantastic. The fact that you can clip it on and has an extender on it to where you don't have to worry about it being unclipped every time you get to use it is wonderful. I feel like they could charge at least $5 more and it would still be worth it in my opinion.

This is the best braid cutter I have used, it works really well. I think this is due to the serrations being really fine. Gives a nice clean cut, no fuzz.
