Lightning Strikes Twice

Great album from the Nelson brothers. I have seen them twice now on their ricky nelson remembered tour, but wish they would be out singing this stuff again. The title of this album is appropriate, since this album is a "second strike" at the "after the rain" sound. The brothers took many different turns in their musical progression after their big success, and unfortunately due to the record companies and the shift that occurred as they broke big, they got shoved off in the sidelines. I have many of their other albums I have collected here and their. This album is really a capture of the old sound that made them successful. The harmony and the mixing would make you think circa 1991 all over again, without the hair though. very much worth getting if you like classic nelson.

The album is called "Lightning Strikes Twice?". This album did not follow up the sucess of their debut album. I loved the first album and even saw them on tour. So, I figured I might try another one of CDs. The vocals are still there but the music and lyrics just didn't grab me. I think I only listened to it once.

I just bought this cd altho i did my first listen of the sound bites on another site.this one has wrong songs listed these are for another album and are wonderful song if you dont already have it.Lightning strikes Twice is an awesome cd every song on it is a good one so you wont be holding the remote LET IT PLAY.Thank you Matthew and Gunnar Nelson for the new music no pun intended but I can hardly wait.

I was so excited when I heard the Nelson brothers were coming out with an album that is back to their original rock and harmony style from "After the Rain"! They do not disappoint! These two are a unique sound that can not be duplicated. They put their best out there for us to enjoy again! Thanks guys!

Let me start off by saying I LOVE THE ALBUM!!!! My rating for the album is 5 stars all the way!!!!! Finish reading for justification of the low rating. True to promotional press, if you're a fan of the classic Nelson sound then this is a definite buy!!! The shipping was timely and the product was well packaged-as has been typical of all my Amazon.com purchases. Before I purchased this product, I SPECIFICALLY looked for an item shipped DIRECTLLY THROUGH AMAZON, and not an outside vender. When it arrived, I eagerly opened the package and promptly put it into my player. At the time, I thought it a bit odd that it came without ANY liner notes (Yes, Im one who STILL enjoys reading those lol) and packaged between the Nelson cover, was a complete cover for "Lost in Meditation: Meditative Gregorian Chants" I thought about it for a minute then dismissed it as a packaging mistake. Hey we're all human, mistakes happen. However, a word of caution...BUYER STILL BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I attended a "Ricky Nelson Remembered" show Friday September 21. As they only sell the "Ricky Nelson Remembered" CDs at these shows, I was happy to have purchased a "Lightning Strikes Twice" album prior to the event. Knowing that Gunnar and Matthew always do meet and greets after the shows, I was also excited to have the CD autographed by the artists themselves! Imagine my HORROR and moderate MORTIFICATION when THEY quickly identify the CD I purchased through Amazon.com as a "bootleg." (Their words not mine) Though they did seem to admire the attempt. It was identified by LACK OF LINER NOTES AND LACK OF COVER ART. To paraphrase, I believe there was a statement made to the effectof they had put a lot of work into creating the cover art, and it wasn't there. They wanted to know if I had bought it through Amazon, and I was able to confirm the purchase. The ground couldn't open up and swallow me FAST ENOUGH last night!!!!!!!!!! Most EMBARASSING and slightly HUMILIATING concert experience EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine, as an artist being presented with material that is easily identified as NOT AUTHENTIC. Imagine the position, as an Amazon customer and Nelson fan *I* was put in! *Though both Gunnar and Matthew were both VERY GRACIOUS about the situation- a HUGE THANK YOU for that! This is in no way intended to be a disrespectful critique of Amazon.com itself, or of the album. Like I said BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY the album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL However, when I make it a point to purchase products DIRECTLY THROUGH AMAZON I do so EXPECTING AUTHENTIC MERCHANDISE, and do so to reduce the chances of things like this happening. I have never had a problem like this before, and DESPERATELY HOPE Amazon authenticates it's suppliers prior to selling products to the public. My words of advice, if you want to purchase THIS CD ( Like Ive said HIGHLY ADVISED!!!!) do so through the Nelsons' website! That way you will receive an AUTHENTIC product.

So I downloaded the new "Lightning Strikes Twice" today and was pleasantly rewarded with a solid 58+ minutes of great melodic rock. Good writing, great hooks and the harmonies that make you remember why you liked them in the first place 20 years ago. This is not a nostalgia act or record by any means. It will hold up to todays standards if you like artists who can really play and sing. The guys have a website that really says it all....Nelson Kicks A**.com I wholeheartedly agree!

If you loved their first album. Then you'll like this one. It's a very heavy hard-hitting 80s power rock album. Lots of good stuff to listen to. They really 80's 80s sound! Good stuff though. Nice to see the boys making new music. a definite for Nelson fans!

This cd is the best one yet that the nelsons have recorded . Seen them in person and glad that they are playing there dads old songs along with some of there own. Rock On Guys !!

Wow !!! it is many years since their first album and that was a great record. Then in my opinion the second album was far removed from their original roots i gave it to the charity shop after 3 plays. Now they are BACK. This should have been their follow up album.From start to finish this is power, good time rock at its best. Fantastic melodies, sing a long chorus's and brilliant sang crafting and musicianship.This is stadium anthem rock at its best.if i were blasting down the highway with the sun blazing... this album would be ideal... It has that feel good factor...music as it should be.... Rock On !!

Aah those heady 80's days, big rock music and bigger hairdtyles, they say that decade wasn't too hot for rock music but there was some magic about (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Poison, and more). And then there was Nelson with the epic, "After The Rain", terrific melodic rock with more hooks than a riverbank full of fishermen! The Nelson twins hair may be shorter these days but these guys ooze class, "Lightning Strikes Twice" is all killer no filler, a fantastic rock album that could easily have been the follow up to, "After The Rain". Brilliant, just brilliant, go out and buy it NOW!!!

軽快なドラムで始まる track-1.Call Meを耳にしてフックに富んだメロディ・ラインとヴォーカル・ハーモニーが心地よく「買って良かった」と思いました。爽快なサウンドに耳を預けて、一気にラストのtrack-12.Kickin' My Heart Aroundまで聴き抜いちゃいました。ロック色の強いtrack-5.Ready, Willing And Able、バラードのtrack-6.To Get Back To Youと粒ぞろいの楽曲群は鮮烈だったデビューアルバム「AFTER THE RAIN」以来の快作です。

1st、2ndと、ポップセンス溢れる良質のアルバムを出した後、時代の流れに飲まれるようにダーク＆ヘヴィな世界へと足を踏み入れていった彼らでしたが、ここに来て初期の作風に近い、すばらしい作品を世に送り出してくれました。　軽快なアメリカンロックが目白押しで、どの曲でもシングルカットできそうな、すばらしい出来映えです。　ハードロックにカテゴライズするには、あまりにも「軽い」ように思われますが、本当にすばらしい作品です。特に、初期のNELSONを知るオールドファンにはお薦めします。93点

なんと、１０年ぶりの新録オリジナルアルバムである。メロディック・ロックの守護神とも言えるフロンティア・レーベル主催者セラフィーノ・ペルジーノが後ろ盾となっての復活劇。楽曲も一部共作はあるが、ほぼ全曲ネルソン兄弟（主にガナー）の手によるものだ。スティーヴ・ルカサーの客演といった要素は、あくまでも「景気づけ」に過ぎない。ここには、まぎれもない全盛期の彼らが新装開店したといってもいい新鮮さで全編溢れている。もともと実父リッキーをはじめイーグルスなどウェストコースト直系のカントリー風味の聴いたポップなメロディセンスを持っていて、人気降下後には、そういったフレイバーを押し出した頃もあったが、ここでは、良い意味でロック的なサウンドのケレンミが戻っていて、しかもそれがセンス良く披露されているので、古臭さも無い。１曲目の衝撃は凄い。出だしはアダルトなアコギっぽさをワザとかもしだしつつ、ドカンとハードなギターが登場する一瞬は鳥肌ものだ。以降もその感動が持続する。ボストンばりのツインリードギターあり、サビの見事なハモリあり、メロウでシンフォニックなバラードありと、見事な表情を見せる。もう、当時の彼らを知る者は、その帰還を奇跡と感じるのではないか。今のシーンで受け入れられるかどうかは分からない。しかし、良識あるロック・ファンが虚心に聴けば、メロディとサウンドとボーカルの配合の素晴らしさに感動すること間違いない。

いやぁ、他の方のレビューとおりでした。やられました。１曲目からもう最高ですね。おかえりなさい、ネルソン。全メロディアスハードロックファン必聴の作品だと思いますよ。来日公演、実現するといいなあ・・・。本当にいい作品だなあ。もう一度、言う。　ありがとう! ネルソン!
