I bought a $70 Rowenta iron at a thrift shop for $5. The only thing that was wrong with it was a lot of burned on starch on the sole plate. I tired the home remedies I found on the web, baking soda paste, etc, with no real success so ordered this product. Heated the iron, squirted this stuff on a cotton rag and like magic, with only moderate rubbing, all of the burnt on starch disappeared leaving the iron completely smooth. shiny, and like new. I am beyond thrilled.

You have to use a lot of elbow grease to get the stain off! Most of the stain came off.

This really works
After everything In could find recommended on the internet: baking soda, vinegar, salt, toothpaste, wet towel .etc. etc., I gave up since there was an area that was just gross and would not come off no matter how hard I rubbed. This morning I used the Faultless product and it took about 4 tries but the plate is now looking very clean, all the stuff came off. It was easy, just apply 2 1" strips to towel and use hot iron with steam off on it. The steam holes are still a bit dirty looking so I used a Q tip dipped in vinegar to clean. Hopefully this will do it. Plan to use this each time I iron until I am sure there is no more gunk left on or in iron. Then will just use vinegar since this little tube is very costly. Nice to find something that actually works as advertised.

Had sticky gunk on my iron that was staining clothes. I was about to buy a new iron when I came across this and figured it was worth a try - cheaper than a new iron! Worked wonderfully. All the goo came off. It did smoke a lot, but instructions said that’s normal. Might want to turn on a fan.
