Nice quality paper
Reasonable size watercolour paper pad, ideal for travelling and a good size for making cards. I like the fact that it is glued as it stops the page warping like a loose page does, but it's not easy to get the pages off when you want to do another painting, I think you will need to use a sharp knife to get the sheets apart cleanly. I love that it's 100% cotton and acid free, a nice thickness that holds the paint well, in the past I've bought cheap paper and my paintings were dull, I thought it was the paint, but in actual fact it was the paper, but it's a good thing to practice on the cheaper paper and then use decent quality to do your final work piece. I have only recently started watercolour painting again having given up for no real reason. I am enjoying it much better and aim to do a bit of painting each day, but I'm a long way off from being good at it.

Great paper and great value!
I'm already a fan of Academy watercolour blocks and looking forward to testing the rough grain. accepts lots of wash and scrubbing and keeps colours beautifully, it is excellent for line and wash.

Good but difficult to separate.
The texture is slightly bumpy to the touch and can be seen, it is not however over textured. It also has a good absorbency, weight, and is easy to draw on and erase. Paint is taken well and is also east to lift. Overall the pad is good value for money. The one downside is the individual papers are difficult to remove and I would suggest that if you intend to use this paper pad, that you also consider purchasing either a scalpel or similar craft knife to remove your completed piece of art. If you use a kitchen knife, envelope opener or similar you could risk damaging your painting, hence the loss of one star. Still recommended but beware of the difficulty in separation.

It can handle masking fluid and washes
Absolutely fantastic watercolour paper! It does not rip from masking fluid, and the thickness and resilience are outstanding. It handles generous washes with ease and never rips or buckles. I’ve been thrilled with the results while working through the Geoff Kersey online course—this paper has genuinely elevated my painting experience!

Like the paper, seems durable and nice quality
I like it! Nice and smooth and can take plenty of water. Haven’t tried anything too elaborate yet, but it has held shape quite well and doesn’t damage easily. Looking forward to experimenting on it.

Meeden watercolour pad
I've seen this advertised as Baohong watercolour paper although the one I purchased has Academy Watercolour Pad on the front and was sold by Meeden so I decided to give it a go as it said it 100% cotton watercolour paper. Now for all you watercolour artists, you know that paper is important. I have tried loads of different watercolour paper but 100% cotton I find is the best. The difference it makes to painting with it to the finished piece is noticeable, for me anyway. I didnt look at the size before purchasing and an A5 pad turned up, not that im complaining. I can tell you that I am impressed. Not only does it perform wonderfully but it is a block (glued down on four sides with a little gap to run a blunt knife around to remove it). I have tried Arches, Saunders Waterford and more recently, Derwent inktense watercolour paper, all 100% cotton, and whilst these ones are very good quality, they are a little on the expensive side, plus they weren't blocks (which you can buy but are lots of money!) I haven't been doing watercolour for long but listening to other artists, they do advise to buy the best paper that you can afford as it makes a world of difference. This pad has so much to give, holds water well, stands up to several layers, is relatively inexpensive compared to other cotton paper and is just a little gem of a find

Excellent quality paper. Colors are vibrant after drying, wet on wet technique can be executed seamlessly. All kinds of color blending also gives very good outcomes. The texture is typical cold pressed, very good and absorbent. It's worth trying.
