This excellent cookbook covers hot dogs from all across the USA.Had been looking for recipes for Chicago Hot Dogs and Cincinnati Chili. The Great American Hot Dog Book came through for me beautifully. This delightful cookbook included the best recipes for Cincinnati Chili and Chicago Hot Dogs I've been able to find.If you're like me then you probably need more than just hot dogs for a meal. No problem. The author, Becky Mercuri has included recipes for things like fries, sauces, and chilis.Are hot dogs good for you? I don't care. If you assemble hot dogs like Becky Mercuri tells you to do then you'll have one of the best meals on the planet!

I remember when the world famous Nick Tahou's garbage plate (Rochester, NY) was really about a half hour from being tossed in the dumpster. The hot dogs and home fries that sat warming on the grill most of the day comprised this tasty delicacy. They'd throw a good size pile of home fries on the plate, top with a couple of chopped up hot dogs, couple of spoons of minced onion and a ladle full of meat sauce. All for a dollar and if you could finish it -the next plate was free. Greasy as it was, we loved it. Usually went there about two in the morning-it's the rough side of town-manhood thing. Mustard and ketchup on your garbage plate and a bottomless cup of coffee and the ambiance of skid row. Later after numerous celebrities and rock stars discovered this, it went upscale. The meat sauce was good with mayonnaise-macaroni salad, also on cheeseburgers with mustard and onion. Becky Mercuri really gives up a lot of the Greek style hot dog sauce recipe secrets-it's all in the sauce! Most importantly you need a good beef stock to cook your ground beef in and that ground beef should have been finely ground to disperse and absorb the flavors. No more spoilers-with ideas from Becky you can't miss! I've got a sauce that's indistinguishable from Tahou's!

This is an interesting book on hotdogs with great bits of information. Recipes and stories are great but any book about food with no color pictures or any pictures of food at all is ridiculous. How hard up can the author be to produce a food book without pictures.

This is a really awesome book for people like my family who love hot dogs. We actually had the pleasure of eating at a Nathan's Famous Hot Dog stand earlier this year!We were on vacation from Canada, so it was exciting. The money spent on this book was well worth it, in my opinion. I only wish I could order the Hot Dog Program DVD as well, but they are unable to ship it to me, and Amazon.ca only has a used VHS tape, which I don't want. Oh, well!

I had no idea there was this much information about hot dogs! And so many recipes - who knew? If you're a hot dog lover, like me, you must get this book. I've always thought a hot dog was a hot dog but now I know I was wrong. I can't wait to try more of the great looking recipes in this book. Great, fun book that makes hotdogs exciting! Includes fun historical facts, recipes for saucaes and sides, along with locations where to get famous hotdogs! Take this book on a road trip! Bought book for fundraiser ideas to make our dog stand unusual. Our different "breeds" were a big hit!

Das Buch war ein Geschenk und es is gut angekommen. Dem Empfänger hat es gefallen und er hat die Rezepte bereits ausprobiert. Dieses Buch ist zu empfehlen.
