How I Got Lost

Overall, I really liked this film, but it is seriously uneven. If you skip every scene with the toxic blonde girlfriend, and just assume that he was an idiot for falling for her, you're all set. The scenes between the two male leads (Aaron Stanford and Jacob Fishel) are perfect. Just two guys with a lot of history and a lot of baggage trying to find their way. These scenes are the most honest and compelling. Having seen Stanford play some really good guys it was tough to watch him play such a selfish, self-destructive person, but he nailed it. Though Fishel is arguable "the lead", Stanford's is the strongest performance. Add a star if you're a NY-er (like me), subtract one if gratuitous 9/11 framing irritates you (like me).

I bought this movie because it had Nicole Vicius in it and I like her and yes she played a part in it but what captivated me about the film was the guy who played andrew. all i could think is, if they remade "midnight cowboy" he should totally play ratzo. He reminded me of a younger Dustin Hoffman. His acting was amazing. Its one of those movies i think ill get more out of the second time around but I loved it. Its not a happy film but its also beautiful. As always Nicole Vicius is beutiful and talented though she is playing a character different than any ive seen her play before. I czn say its the best movie ive ever seen but I was very happy i bought it and would reccomend it to any fan of indie arthouse cinema. well done.

An honest look at what it meant to live in NYC during the early 00's in the wake of 9/11 and the sudden blackout. Having lived there myself, I can tell you that this film about young professionals feeling the rug yanked out from under them rings true with great resonance. Director Joe Leonard has done a superb job of taking the events of our time and placing real human beings in the midst of the struggle to build lives that can withstand chaotic events.

This is a VERY low key, depressing/boring, non-entertaining movie. It won't excite, thrill, scare, enchant, cheer or educate you. No clever lines, no witty banter - in fact there seems to be a lot of quiet. (But, for those who care, the F-bomb is used quite a lot.)This movie follows 2 friends (in their late 20's?) who are both "lost" as to who they are - where they're heading etc. They are not in relationships, not where they imagined they would be in their lives/careers by now, no plans to improve their situation...One guy just found out his dad died (they hadn't talked in a long time, and he didn't even know his dad was ill) - he makes a big scene at the funeral home putting down those people who came to pay their respects... he drinks and smokes constantly and ends up sleeping with his best friend's ex (that his friend is still majorly in love with).The other guy once had what seemed to be a promising career in baseball waylaid by an injury and became a sports writer assigned to cover a losing team - he is still very much in love with a woman he met on (or just after) 9/11 and is "lost" wondering how/why his life turned out as it had. And after staying behind in Ohio for the reading of the will (for his friend who lost his dad), he returns home to find out that friend had slept with the woman he loved.By the end of the movie I don't think either made any progress on their situations mentally/emotionally or physically. So I'm left wondering what was the point.Neither the characters or the viewers get anything out of this movie. Don't waste your time on this one.

How I Got Lost was a lovely film. I think that it is a gem. After seeing it on line I bought it on DVD. I found out about it when I saw Jacob Fishel in a production of Shakespeare's Henry V. Seeing the two characters interact and develop was facinating to me. Personally, I truly enjoyed Jacob Fishel's performance. It was striking and beautiful.

How I Got Lost How I Got Lost is a fun, fresh story about a journey across America. The characters are interesting, down to earth, and believable. Even the most minor characters have quirky attributes that come across in a natural and unexpected way. This is a great, entertaining movie that will also make the viewer think about life. Very fun!
