I need a wrench with a 9/16 inch opening will this do?

This wrench will definitely adjust to accept a 9/16 inch nut or bolt head. It's made to adjust up to 2 inches wide. And it has both inch and metric markings (one on either side of the wrench) to use as an adjustment guide. This wrench is made in particular to handle larger nuts/bolts, so it might be larger than you need for a 9/16 inch nut or bolt. But, since it will accommodate a variety of nut/bolt sizes, it's a great tool. And it's not as large as most wrenches that will handle bigger nuts/bolts. In addition, it has a narrower head, which makes it easier to reach into tight spaces.

What is the jaw thickness?

The jaws are tapered, so there is no single thickness to them. The rear of the jaws are about .450" wide and the fronts are about .300" wide.

The two I have are made in China and one has rusted in less than a year , the other one is not as bad but .. It's a 50/50 chance you might get a good one . I'd spend a little more and get a good one .
