Could this scale be used to weigh a small cat under 10lbs if I put cat in a box?

"Schrodinger's cat" LOL! Patricia, I use my scale to weigh my parrot. i just have to get him to hold still for a second which I do by holding an almond in front of him. Cats usually momentary freeze when they see something interesting to them as well. Alternatively, you could make an odd sound, like a distressed mouse squeak. Your cat will probably freeze at that in order to determine where the noise is coming from. Let the cat play in the box before you put it on the scale so she/he will be used to being in it.

Why are you using horribly faked superimposed photos of food? It throws off the scale of the product!

That's for "scale" (it's small: you put food on it, not people). Yes, these are definitely photoshopped, which is common here on Amazon. (If you click the strawberries and then hover your mouse over the different colors, you'll see that these are the EXACT same strawberries in each picture. ) Take a look at the review photos for something more real.

Does it also go negative? For example, if I have a bowl with food in it and tare it, then remove some of the food, does it show a negative number?

I also needed to know if it would go negative 😊. The reason we use the negative measurements is this: if I am making a recipe, and I need to add 20 grams of honey, rather than messing up a measuring cup, you put the open honey jar (you don't want to include cap weight) on the scale and tare or "zero" it. Then, pick up the honey, put in about what you think is about 65% of your desired weight. Then put the honey jar back on the scale. The amount it shows in a negative number is the number of units (for me, usually grams) that you added to your recipe. Repeat pouring in until the scale registers as a negative number what you were looking to add (in this example, at the end it would say -20g).

Broke after less than 4 months

When I first bought the scale, it was great but after couple of months the weighing base started shaking and now it's completely off base where the weight of the item fluctuate based on the where the item is positioned. Really disappointed as I thought this would be a reliable scale.

This is a wonderful little scale. It’s accurate for weighing food purposes and the tare function is simple to use. I use it frequently for weighing food for defrosting in microwave. I put plate on scale. Weigh plate. Then press tare which zeros out weight of plate. Then place food on plate and it gives me weight of food on whatever measurement scale I want. My meat etc is purchased in kilos but my microwave is set to pounds and often we break up originally packages, so this is wonderful. I’ve been using for months and love it.

CONTRAS: *Los materiales de construcción se sienten un poco baratos, al momento de ver la foto da la impresión que esta construido todo en metal o aluminio pero no es así, el producto esta conformado totalmente de plástico en su base y en la base de pesaje es también un tipo de plástico con aleación de otra cosa. ANTES DE COMPRAR: *Esta balanza solo puede pesar hasta 5050 g. *Usa baterías AAA(dos pares de pilas incluidas). *Esta fabricado en plástico. CONCLUSIÓN: Si lo que buscas es una bascula para pesar tus alimentos de forma rápida y precisa, este producto es para ti, sirve y sirve muy bien.
