Don't get it in your mouth!
Earlier this season I purchased two containers of Liquid Fence from my local Lowe's Hardware store. I think the product was old. Both containers were like solid blocks of stuff inside the container. I had to bang on them a lot to get the granular stuff to shake out. I used both containers. Usually one (smaller) container will keep the deer away most of the season. I went out last week and found all my roses and buds gone! And the hosta flowers too! Oh no! Is it deer season yet?! So, I checked Amazon and found this five pound container of Liquid Fence and the price was great! It was hard to wait for the package to arrive. Yes, Amazon is fast, but deer are faster. I put Zest soap shavings on my roses and hostas in the meantime. The Liquid Fence arrived and I put it out immediately. I opened the container and gagged real bad. Yeah, it's nasty stuff! Amazon is selling a nice fresh product! I had to hold my nose the entire time I was shaking the container. Pay attention to the direction the wind is blowing. You REALLY won't like this to blow into your mouth. Yeah, the deer don't like it either. I recommend you buy your Liquid Fence from AMAZON. A great price and a very fresh product! I think they go through it fast, so the product they have in stock is always fresh. If the tips of your plants look like they've been clipped right off, that's deer damage. They love to eat your tender new growth. Your garden is worth protecting. I'll add a photo of deer damage if I can get a good one. Stay dirty my friend.

Works well against rabbit damage
This is quite smelly but it works on rabbits. (we don't have a deer problem so can't address that).

Smells too good
I've used this stuff before and it normally works pretty well. Repulsive smell reeks for a while after application. This stuff smells a little like peppermint and is not repulsive at all, an obvious manufacturing defect.

Bye bye bunnies!
This works quite well at keeping rabbits away from my perennials. Is it completely effective? Not really because the bunnies still find and nibble my coneflowers. But if it is reapplied often enough, they stay away. I like that it does no harm to my plants or the animals.

Keeps rabbits (AND gardeners) away!
This product sprinkles on easily but smells SO bad like manure. It takes consistent use - since it eventually washes away. While itโs generally an effective option to keep the bunnies away, itโs a higher maintenance one that also keeps ME away from the garden bc of the odor!

Horrifyingly Effective
Liquid Fence won't just keep Deer and Rabbits out of your garden; it will keep every kind of animal with a nose out of your garden. In fact, YOU may want to avoid your garden after using it, because it absolutely reeks. The ingredients include "Putrescent Egg Solids" (and some Garlic), but that doesn't seem like a sufficient explanation for the foul and horrid stench that comes off this stuff. It brings to mind much nastier things, like rotting fish, or vomit, or skunksโฆ or maybe the Devil's sweaty underwear after a long day of torturing sinners. I mean, seriously, it is the most sickening thing you are likely to ever smell. That is exactly why it works so well, though. No sane animal will want to go anywhere near your garden after you use this. For the best results, use these dry granules at first, when your plants are still relatively low to the ground. But then when they start to get bigger, use the actual *liquid* Liquid Fence, so you can mist it all over the leaves. (And be sure to always spray downwind from yourself, because you do NOT want the stuff blowing back into your face.) Also, note that your money will go further if you buy the concentrate version, and mix it yourself. Just avoid breathing through your nose while you do it, and be aware that whatever spray bottle you use will forever be contaminated with the stench.

Deer and Rabbits HATE This Stuff
I was buying the liquid version of this product, but... it smells. The stink is overwhelming, and it's a pain to keep pulling the trigger on the bottle. This granular version is a way better approach... yeah it still smells, but it's not nearly as overwhelming. You simply take the bottle and sprinkle some grains over each plant. I've been using this for two year and, and the animals won't come anywhere near the plants I am using this on no matter how tasty. In my estimation, a sprinkle is good for about 4-8 weeks of protection. You WILL need to sprinkle this a few times during spring and summer if you want to keep the "fence" going. If you don't re-sprinkle every once in a while, eventually the smell wears off enough and one day you'll come out to clear-cut flowers and plants. --- PROs --- - Works great. Deer, rabbits, and other critters won't eat your plants. - Very easy to spread. Just sprinkle over the plants. Takes but a few mins. - Doesn't stink as much as the liquid version. --- CONs --- - Still stinks, just less so. You'll be able to smell it and won't want to hang around those same plants for 2-5 days after you sprinkle this stuff. Then you won't be able to smell it, but the animals will. - You need to sprinkle a few times a season. Once a month is plenty.

Not satisfactory rabbit repellent. Need a real fence.
After I found a leak in a gallon of Liquid Fence that kept it from spraying, I tried pouring some into a utility spray bottle and spraying my front-yard petunias. For a week the petunias were not eaten, even though I had seen rabbits afoot. Then they were eaten until only a single stem per plant remained. I got the granules in the hope it would be easier to apply. However, it is not granules but clumpy powder. I applied it to what remained of the petunias, and a few bloomed, only to then get eaten down again. I tried the powder at places where rabbits were coming under my backyard fence to no avail. Finally I used floral netting to block the spaces under the fence and between panels, and I saw no more evidence of rabbits in the backyard. I have interacted with rabbits in my back yard in in my walks in the neighborhood to learn what I can about them. My conclusion is that a hungry rabbit will not give up getting something to eat. It will ignore the odor of the liquid fence to get to food. It will not run away unless something is moving toward it, and then it will move very quickly to high grass or bushes or a hole in a wall, wherever is the nearest, there to hide and wait. The only thing to keep hungry rabbits away from flowers they like is a real fence. It must be sealed at the ground to prevent the rabbit from squeezing under it; it must be sealed at all junctions to keep the rabbit from squeezing through. The ravenous rabbits are typically small, and they can squeeze through really small spaces. Also the fence must be high. I have seen a rabbit jump at least 3 feet vertically into a large pot of flowers. The other approach is to have plants that rabbits do not like to eat, even if the plants are not pretty.

Good Product Needs More Attention Re Packaging
The product works for Australian rabbits which we are happy with. Purchased more only to find when opened the parcel that the items inside had been opened and not resealed correctly or they just popped off in transit. Most of one container has spilled out into the box which raised a few eyebrows in the local post office. After opening checked the supposedly sealed containers and the lids simply fell off with the inner opening seal in the lid area โฆ should still have been sealed on the top of the container. For safe packaging the containers should have been in at least a plastic bag to ensure should this happen that the contents do not spill out. Otherwise the product works as a general deterrent to rabbits and as we have many birds in our garden can attest that the product does not appear to harm or deter them. I would like to hear from the seller regarding their packaging process to ascertain if it was their slackness upon dispatch packaging or Amazon Au or Australia Post in Botany who caused the contents to spill in the parcel box.

Seems to work but incredibly expensive
Seems to be effective in discouraging deer and rabbits but is expensive. I bought the 5lb granules for AUD$40 before Christmas and now just 4 weeks later it's AUD$63!!!!! It doesn't go very far and the large container is literally half empty which seems deceptive. So the product is OK but the ongoing cost is unacceptable. I've since bought a keg of Bunny Bait for less $ and met a local hunter who will solve the feral deer problem for free.
