The "fundamentals" part in its title is totally true, it covers the foundation level of requirements engineering, no less, no more. Though there are plenty of topics and concepts in this book, I think it does not go deep into any of them, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I rate this book with 4 stars because it was all I had to study to pass the CPRE FL exam, so it served its purpose. However, it's not the book I'd recommend to someone who was looking for a practice guide or learn more about RE than the average people in the industry. All the examples in the book, including the UML diagrams, are for dummies, that's annoying.

It helped me pass the exam, but it is slightly outdated
This book desperately needs an update and a refresh of its focus to the practitioner. Also, in the exam there were questions not covered by the book, e.g. some model types.Other than that, easy to read, good structure.

Good book. Every engineer after few of worm experience must read this.The challenge is it's not like a college text book. Added to that the English construction in this book is not free flowing, possibly 'cause book is influenced by German expressions and writing style. And a result one need to really put-in effort to get the essence of the topic.But it's worth reading. ..especially for those who want to learn the state-of-the-art methods in Requirements Engineering! !!

Gute kompakte Zusammenfassung
Wer eine gute kompakte Zusammenfassung sucht, um die IREB CPRE Prüfung ohne Kurs zu bestehen und bereits Vorahnung im RE-Bereich hat, ist mit diesem Buch anstelle eines Kurses gut bedient.Ich hab mich mit diesem Buch 2 Wochen lang (an insg. etwa 7-8 Abenden) auf die o.g. Prüfung vorbereitet, was mit einigem RE-Vorwissen absolut ausreichend war.
