Phlebotomy Essentials 6th Edition

This book definitely came in handy while I was taking Phlebotomy course. There were important items that were highlighted that were important and needed to be remembered.

This book has great information in it but apparently there are two printings of this version. And the 2nd printing has tried to correct some mistakes in the first one. This is a problem when not everyone has the same version even though everyone's book says '6th edition'. The workbook also doesn't match up exactly. The info is there you just have to serach for it. I would recommend purchasing it where you can verify that you have the specific printing and workbook that your class requires (not just the isbn #)Still though - great info.

The textbook is chalked full of information, and is a great resource to draw from. It has plenty of step by step pictures on everything, from how to do heel sticks on infants, to Arterial Blood Gases and everything in between. The workbook, on the other hand, is the most useless piece of crap I have ever had to use for a class. The activities inside don't at all aid your knowledge on the subject, but are direct copy and pasting random words from random sentences from throughout the book. Not to mention there are word unscrambler sections and crossword puzzles in literally every single chapter. The only workbook activities that at all seemed interesting and relevant to phlebotomy were the lab requisitions. That being said, so long as your draws are good enough, and you know how to read orders/labels (which this book kind of teaches) then you will be fine. I needed this for a phlebotomy class, and have since been hired as a clinical lab assistant.

I Was nervous of ordering this packet at first since most of the reviews were explaining that they did not received all of the books. the price of the packet was the cheapest i could find so i decided to give it a try and it was the right choice!! Absolutely loved this book. Other students in my class were not a big fan of it, but I only think that was because the textbook could come off as difficult sometimes. What I really love about the textbook (and workbook that goes along with it) is that you have to work and figure out problems in order to get the answers you're looking for. The book does not flat out give you the answers which I think is a good thing. After all, you are dealing with people's blood and should learn the answers, not have them handed to you.

My daughter just took her Phlebotomy classes in fall of 2019 and this book worked perfect for her. She aced the class AND was able to sell this book to another classmate after she finished....so it was a win/win situation for her!

This book has all you need for carrying out phlebotomy. Give you the history up to present day excellent book.
