Does ink tend to glob or ball up on the point, resulting in smudges? Thanks.

This is an average pen. It doesnt glob as much as some other pens I own, but over time you will get a little blob. If you want a better pen buy the bic atlantis exact fine. I bought these for work notebook keeping and i'm very happy with them.

What color is the ink?

There are variations - you can click on the image and the label will state the color. Comes in black, blue and more.
