Implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Apps: Learn best practices, architecture, tools, techniques, and more, 2nd Edition

I will try to update my review as I read more of the book. So far I like the changes. The English is better, there are fewer typographical errors, new material on new features/technologies has been added, and material on deprecated topics has been removed.1. The English in this 2nd edition is much better than in the 1st edition. There are still some problems with English in spots, but they are now dramatically fewer.2. The first chapter I am reading is Chapter 9, on Customization and Extension. I noticed paragraphs and groups of paragraphs that have been removed in the 2nd edition, but those are okay because they are no longer needed. As one example, when the 1st edition was written developers could still overlayer, but now they cannot: the material (several paragraphs) on overlaying was removed, which is fine.Note: A recent book that covers development in much more detail is “Extending Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management: Cookbook: 2nd Edition”.3. The second chapter I looked at is chapter 8, on Integration. Some material I found useful in the first edition is missing in this second edition, but more new data has been added. So overall, I'd say a win again.Material on the following topics was deleted:A. Recurring IntegrationThe discussion was stripped down from about 5 pages to about 1 page: it is now under Batch Data APIB. Dynamics 365 Data IntegratorData Integrator was "replaced" by Dual Write, so it not being in the book anymore is okay.Material on the following topics was added:A. Business EventsB. Data FeedsC. Dual WritesD. Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2 Integration4. The third chapter I read was chapter 11 on testing and training.A good amount of material on RSAT (Regression Suite Automation Tool) was added: I feel this material could be improved, but it is at least there.A small amount of material on ATL (Acceptance Test Library) and DTA (Data Task Automation) was added.A paragraph on X++ Form Adaptors was removed: they are no longer used.

Started a new gig on an ERP team with Dynamics F&O 1 week post go live. I had worked with Lawson and Epicor before so I had a lot of questions about Dynamics and why we do the things the way we do them. This book explained everything at the right amount of detail. Couldn’t have asked for a cleaner and clearer high level book for implementing D365. Thanks for the work that went into this, Authors.

I needed a book that would show me how to enter invoices, payments, etc. This book did not do that.
