Greatest Gadget for Photographers
This device is amazing. I do not know where this perfect device has been since I began my photography career many years ago. I love the fact that the pin alignment is always perfect. There is no guessing or inspecting that the pins are aligned. This gadget completely eliminates the risk of damaging any pins or CF Cards. The PixelFlash is super fast when connecting. I am thrilled I purchased it and plan on purchasing another in the future as a gift for a colleague.

PixelFlash? More like PixelFAST!
So I'm a music and portrait photographer whose cameras mostly use SD cards. I hadn't had a camera that used a CF card in a long time. And I found myself in that situation recently. I thought all card readers were more or less the same until I started reading the reviews about the delicate pins on CF card readers. The PixelFlash is certainly not cheap comparatively but the reviews made sense compared to much cheaper competitors. The CF card itself inserts much further than another other card readers making it less likely to insert incorrectly. (I still insert it super careful though.) What did I want to do? Buy multiple cheap card readers? Or one good one? The unit itself is lighter than I had expected and the 1" cable stiffer than I expected. But the rubber-feel of the casing is nice as are the lights during use. I don't expect that I'll be flexing the cable all that much, but I chose it over the non-cable model, because I felt the unit without the cable would eventually stress the USB socket itself on my laptop. So the cabled model will relieve that stress and the cable doesn't have to be all that flexible to achieve this. (If you have a desktop computer with vertical USB ports this may not be an issue for you.) So far, I'm very pleased with the PixelFlash and I'm glad I spent a little extra money. It seems reliable and super fast. I would definitely recommend.

Finally, a solution to my reader woes!
I have an embroidery machine that requires compact flash cards to transfer the designs from my PC to the machine. I have gone through 3 of the @$10 card readers in two years! I have tried to be ever so careful inserting my cards into the reader, but apparently the pins keep getting bent or broken. I was on Amazon looking to replace my last failed reader and came across the PixelFlash reader that promised no bent or broken pins. It was more expensive, but came with a 2-year warranty (which was extended to three years when it arrived), so I ordered one. It is very sturdy construction, and the compact flash card slides in much farther than on the cheaper ones and plugs into the pins very securely. The USB cable is firmly and permanently attached to the unit, so no worries about poor connections. This only reads compact flash cards, but that is all I need or want to read. This is just a good, solid, quality product that is very tactile!

Great
Good product. Works as advertised, it's just so dang expensive for what it is! You get what you pay for though, and this works flawlessly. Would recommend just biting the bullet and paying more for this rather than getting a new reader every couple years.

Cheap.
Inserted my CF card and it went straight through it, without any force at all. I couldn't wait to use this & loved the reviews I read- but It came packaged in a little blank plastic zipped bag & it's so light and cheap feeling, had to pop it open to get my cf card out and pins were bent. As a photographer, I would say run away from this one!

Maybe not so durable
On the one hand, this is a pretty good CF reader. I have 3 of them, some of which get used regularly (maybe weekly). The card inserts easily. I've nveer bent a pin. USB 3.0 is impressively fast. Unfortunately, they don't last. One of my readers, probably less than 6 months old and one that gets unplugged the least had it's USB grounding sheath detach and remain left behind in the computer USB jack. Considering the thousands of super cheap USB plugs I've pulled out and never had one come apart, this is really unacceptable for a premium product. Maybe it's a fluke, but one out of three is a high failure rate.

Best Flash Reader for Routers and 09 Maximas out there
If you are looking at this review then you KNOW how frustrating it is to work under a deadline only to find that just as you are ready to ship that new router out the door with the new configuration and IOS files only to find out that when you put that CF card in your reader, it fails! DOH! Well, fret no more. this puck makes that scenario much less probable. CF cards are "guided" into the receptacle. I won't say your CANT bend a pin, but as long as you aren't using a big hammer, it will be difficult to do. Transfer of files from my PC to CF is MUCH quicker than using the router to move files around and works as well on USB2 as 3 in my lab. There is a version with a longer cable (in hindsight, I wish I would have ordered that one so I don't have to reach across the bench (or my desk) to access the device. I also have an 09 Nissan Maxima that uses CF instead of USB for MP3s. I didn't use it much before getting this reader. Now a book or a new tune is EASY to add for my listening pleasure in the car.

I was so excited to purchase & use this compact flash card reader with pins that would not bend! This meant no more delays in accessing the photos on my CF card, and no worries about possibly damaging the card because of bent pins in the cheap reader. Now I can transfer with confidence! Thanks for a great product - worth every penny!

At last someone has produced a CF card reader that doesn’t destroy the delicate pins of the usually readers this is a solid quality product that wont bend the pins as the alignment rails are spot on. If you use CF cards in your camera this is a must.

It works flawlessly for my camera. When I initially got my camera I struggled with finding a good CF reader at a good price. Only a few uses after my first one and the pins bent and almost ruined my CF card. This one has been functioning with grace and I’m extremely happy to find a device I trust.

I have to admit this is the best CF card reader I have purchased. I was very frustrated of several bend pin CF card reader before. I think any professional photographers who use CF card should own at least one of them. Bravo to the excellent design.
