i have a 2005 toyota tundra double cab w/ JBL factory system. Will they fit in my front doors? Also, will I need to buy separate mounting brackets?

My dads truck is a 2004 tundra access cab and we were able to fit the 6 3/4 speakers with the tweeters in the front. But we had to cut a hole in the door panel for the tweeter to flush mount in the factory spot. Hope this helps.

How bad is it to install the separate components (tweeters etc.)

Its really bad. You need to use a screw driver to undo panels and then get your hands dirty with all the dust inside your doors. I even had to wear gloves!!!But if you mean how hard it is to install the tweeters... Not hard. Just connect them in parallel with the mains and they will work. They will work better if you use a crossover to split the high frequencies from the lower frequencies.
