Quality Heating Pad - Finally!
Returned heating pads from two other brands before I purchased this one. Finally a heating pad that really heats up, stays hot and feels soft on my skin. It also has auto shut off, which I need for safety since I sleep with it. Should have just known to buy another Sunbeam in the first place! I suffer from IBS and used my old Sunbeam heating pad night and day for years until the plastic started ripping at the edges and I wasn’t sure it was safe to use anymore. A note of caution—if you want a pad that has a low, lukewarm setting, this is not the one for you. The “warm” setting is VERY warm. I like a hot heating pad but I haven’t even tried past level one (pad has warm setting, plus levels 1-3).

Exceptionally well made
I have had this heating pad for quite some time, so I am speaking with lengthy experience. Super product all way round. Very plush and pliable. Works extremely well with a nice even heat. The control unit has the option for heat level and timer. I just recently threw away the old one all bent up plastic (black burn marks) with a loose/torn cover. It was at that moment that I decided to write a review for this exceptionally well made heating pad 😊

Tried twice - these heating pads don’t work!
I had a similar heating pad (same size, shape, general construction) that cost a little more than half the price of this one. It lasted for more than a year, but eventually it stoped working. I decided to replace it with this one because I recognized the brand name and based on that, I figured it might last longer. It arrived quickly, and looked very nice - soft, pretty color, seemingly good quality. During the first use, it heated and remained in on for approximately 20 minutes before turning itself off. The optional auto shutoff was disabled, but even if it hadn’t been, it should have stayed on for 2 hours. My mom happened to be visiting and she suggested that I should try unplugging it and also unplugging the cord from the actual pad before plugging everything back in and trying again. She said she had a similar heating pad and sometimes had to do that. I tried this, but nothing happened. I tried the same method again after about 30 minutes and it worked that time. But again, the heating pad functioned for about 20 minutes before turning itself off. And again I was unable to turn it on again afterward. The following day I was able to turn it on after performing the annoying multiple unplugging and re-plugging exercise, but this time it stayed on for only about 5 minutes before turning itself off. After 30 minutes, I tried again. I unplugged, re-plugged, pressed the power button, and the power button became unattached from the control box and fell into the inner space of the box. I attempted to return it, but realized it wasn’t returnable. I contacted customer service. They said they would send a replacement and that there was no need to send back the useless heating pad. I figured this had all been a fluke and that there was no way the sane issues would occur with the replacement. I was wrong. During the first use, the heating pad remained on for approximately 20 minutes. I was unable to turn it back on after it turned itself off. After 30 minutes, the absurd unplugging and re-plugging exercise worked. This time it stayed on for approximately 10 minutes before turning itself off. Since that time, the heating pad has functioned for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time and no more than once per hour. As of yesterday, it wouldn’t stay on for even a full minute. Another thing that was happening (even when it wouldn’t stay on for a full minute) was that the control box would get very warm any time it was plugged in. I didn’t notice this with the first heating pad, and didn’t notice it initially with the second, but eventually I realized that it was a thing. I read the 1 star reviews, and apparently I’m far from the only person who has experienced these issues. A few reviews suggest that this is caused by keeping the heating pad plugged in when it isn’t in use. That was definitely not the issue in the case of either of my heating pads. They absolutely came out of the box with their problems and functioned improperly from the first use. They also weren’t left plugged into the wall when not in use. But even if they had been, it isn’t acceptable for an electric appliance to function only if it’s unplugged when not in use. Can you imagine a lamp that had to be unplugged between every use? I’m guessing the heating up of the power box is in some way related to the malfunction and I actually wonder if it’s even a safe product. Regardless, it is a terribly flawed product that should be recalled and reworked before being sold to anyone else. I’ve just ordered a similar version by another brand for the same price. No reviews say anything about this sort of problem. I highly recommend that you keep looking and buy another heating pad.

Great heating pad, love it
I got this to replace a sunbeam heating pad that I’ve had for probably twenty years!! It’s one with the insert and a cover and I’ve now handed down to my teen daughter and needed a new quality one. So I certainly chose sunbeam again. The weight of this is nice and I do love that it’s all in one and I don’t have to worry about the insert and cover moving around. I have herniated discs and other back issues from a past car wreck and scoliosis. I use a heating pad often, this one is great for sitting at my desk and using, using while laying on my stomach and it on my back or sitting on the couch. It heats up well, has great setting options and love auto shut off. It’s a must for me as I will get up from desk at the end of the day and sometimes forget to turn my old one off. It’s a quality heating pad and what I’d expect from sunbeam!

This product looks good on the screen. It doesn't worth the money paid for it. when plugged into power, it works for a couple of minutes with little warming and stops working. its control gets heated and lights go off for a long time. need to cool it to be able to use it again for 2-3 minutes. More embarrassing the item isn't eligible for replacement or return.

Most modern 'heating pads' do not get warmer than 100°F/37°C so do not provide any benefit. Old pads that got warm enough to help with injuries or arthritis now banned since idiots put them on colicky babies or old, disabled people and burned them. Sunbeam was rated as still getting warm, but at 100°F/37°C, it shuts off, blinking red light means 'protection' has kicked in, and all warming stopped. Useless!!!
