As advertised, but too heavy, rolls on wrong side, too clumsy to use. Went back to the discontinued model we have although it has a broken wheel.

Works Well
super easy cleanup canister - does a fine job cleaning the floor - thin head gets into smaller spaces and the handle-to-base transition is nice

Nothing but a Chinese quality vacuum...
What can I say that hasn't been said by previous posters. I was so intrigued by the Amazon Product Details, that I ordered two of these. I just got my return authorization for both. I don't need the power nozzle. It sure is described as the real-deal. But let me specifically tell you how this is so obviously engineered by a Chinese mentality. 1) the power-cord is short: how much more basic can you get than a cord always pulling you from going further; 2) the power cord is fabricated or made from sub-standard rubber or plastic or whatever makes it flexible or not - when u feel that cord, it is more brittle than flexible and will just be a matter of time before it starts sticking up the auto recoil; 3) the suction tubing is almost of the same substandard materials - they probably added too much water to something cheap to the mixture - it just doesn't easily flex and God-forbid you want to turn in tight corners using just the suction nozzle, which is primarily how I use this vacuum; 4) the filter system's dirt cup cage is so thinly designed and fabricated, again, it's built to break and way too much trouble to go through to empty dirt, as compared to let's say, the lower cost Dirt Devil R082550. With that, you just lift a lid and pull out the large cup and filter assembly, dump, bang and your done. So the whole filter system seems needlessly complicated and rickety. 5) the big wheels wobble and sometimes just stop turning. I didn't even check what was up, since that started happening after noting everything else. I just dragged it. Conclusion, to me, this vacuum hurts Amazon. I mean, why would you sell something this substandard. It is just a package of total crap, designed and manufactured without a respect for quality, endurance and customer ease of use and expectation. Who at Amazon let this product through should be reprimanded.

Dirt Devil does a nice job
The only negatives I have with this vac are fairly minor. First of all, the cord is way too short. I have to repeatedly relocate the plug as I move thru the house or attach an extension cord which doesn't roll up inside the retraction hole of course. Secondly, the hose is fairly lightweight plastic and gets twisted on itself too easily. It also collapses if twisted or compressed. This doesn't impact how it works, but I just have to be mindful of the hose to make sure I don't get it twisted. The attachment caddy is kind of a nuisance as it attaches to the main tube between power nozzle and hose. This constantly gets bumped on things as I work and the attachments fall off. It would be better if they were somehow inside the body of the cannister or attached to it. Lastly there needs to be one more attachment which is larger for sweeping hard surface floors instead of using the power nozzle all the time. The power nozzle does fine for this with the beater bar turned off, but a larger floor attachment would be better. Now for the good- I LOVE the adjustable suction feature. This is great for cleaning area or throw rugs. Simply dial down the suction until the nozzle no longer sucks the rug up with it and it works great. The dirt cup is easy to clean out and has a good size capacity- would be nice if there was a little brush to clean all the folds of the filter out too, but not really a problem. This machine has good suction strength and leaves the floors and carpets clean, which is its purpose after all. It folds down pretty flat to reach under furniture if you move the attachment caddy that is. I can clean all the way under beds and couches easily. Overall, a great machine. It works very well on hard surfaces and carpets too. A good purchase for a good price. I've had much more expensive vacuums which don't work this well. UPDATE: I have now after 1 year and 4 months had the vacuum in the repair shop two times. Both times AFTER the warranty of course. The power switch on the handle that controls the beater brush in the power head keeps getting pushed inside the handle. The first time it still functioned, but now it doesn't even turn on or off. The reset button doesn't work either. I purchased a basic attachment the last time I repaired it and it works great on hard floors, which the original attachments were lacking. However the machine isn't currently working and I'm not sure its worth another 80 dollars to repair!

I Would Pass On This Vacuum
Let me first qualify that I hate cleaning and I know next to nothing about vacuums. I know they are supposed to pick up dirt and debris from the floor and if a vacuum does that, I cannot ask for more. My wife and I got the vacuum and took it out of the box. We were quite pleased that assembly was quite simple. Compared to our Kirby Sentria, the Dirt Devil Vision series is much lighter and easier to handle. Unfortunately, that is about the only thing good I found about this vacuum. The first thing I found that I did not like was that the button to turn on the vacuum is on the body of the unit and the switch to turn on the brush in the vacuum head is on the handle. I have used canister type vacuums in the past (Kenmore brand) and I very much prefer being able to control the vacuum from a single switch in the handle as opposed to two separate switches like the Dirt Devil Vision does. The next thing I did not like was the cord length. The cord measures in at roughly 17 feet long. This allows me to vacuum roughly one room and not much more. I like vacuums with a longer cord length so that I can get a room done and a good chunk of hallway before having to unplug and move to the next outlet. The cord on the Kirby vacuum we normally use measures in at about 30 feet. Perhaps I am a bit spoiled by the Kirby, but it definitely felt I was constantly moving the plug with the Dirt Devil Vision. In my home, besides myself and a short haired dog, we have 4 females with hair on the longer side. After a few short uses, I could not help but notice the massive amount if hair that has become entangled in the brush of the vacuum. From what I can tell, the brush assembly is not easily disassembled on this vacuum. I have not read the manual yet to see if there are directions on cleaning the brush. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, but I doubt it. Finally, in my opinion, the Dirt Devil Vision just does not clean well. I uploaded a video where I performed a side by side test of the Dirt Devil Vision versus the Kirby Sentria. One might argue I am comparing the Ford Fiesta with a Lincoln MKS, and I would not disagree. However, I am not testing the bells and whistles of each model, I am just testing how well they pick up dirt and debris. As the video shows, the Dirt Devil just does not do a good job. Given how easily the Dirt Devil Vision clogs with longer hair and how poorly the vacuum cleans, I cannot recommend that people spend their hard earned money on this product. If you cannot afford a nicer vacuum or if you are buying it for a place where it will not see much use (like a vacation home), then this vacuum might be OK. However, I would recommend spending a few more dollars and buying something better.

inexpensive but you get what you pay for
I purchased this vacuum for it's relatively reasonable price and features. I wish that I had followed my intuition; that you do indeed get what you pay for. This vacuum has very few pros, so I will address them first. I have some lighter wieght area rugs where the variable suction is a great feature. It has pretty good suction and does well on bare floors. The brush attachment has a cool swivel head that allows you to manuever it for varying positions. That pretty much sums up the pros. Right out of the box, a plastic cord retainer was broken. It was meant to stabilize the cord that you MUST disconnect before emtying the dust collecter. Just poor design, in my estimation. A few weeks later the female retainer for that connection snapped making it a challenge to reconnect. The nozzle hose is quite stiff, but worse is the swivel mechanisms to manuever the powerhead. The powerhead is pretty poorly designed and is not good on carpet which is what it is really designed for. It hangs up pushing forward, regardless of how high you set it. Be forewarnd that ANY bagless system will require you to vacuum clean the hepa filter after EACH use. If you only have one vacuum that can be tricky. Get two filters so you can interchange them. IT is ALWAYS messy! I would recommend highly against bagless vacuums. As I was attempting to remove the debris from the internal hepa filter, I inadvertantly dropped the containter where the hanldle snapped off quite easily. This rendered the vacuum totally useless until such time as I was able to epoxy the handle back into position. I may be able to beef up the weak design by adding some miracle putty. Essentially, I would not recommend this, unless you just enjoy challenges.

The canister is heavy which makes it hard to pull around with you, it is just very awkward to use and to store. The handle on it is too large and hard to handle.
